Backend Engineer | Hammersmith, London
A Backend Engineer at GetGround works on projects such as financial infrastructure, robust systems for high value transactions and company management. We primarily use Golang, deployed on Google Cloud. We care about thoughtful, tested, documented code that delivers excellence to our customers.

Using Organise, Amazon drivers landed national media coverage, including an exclusive BBC Newsnight investigation, exposing their working conditions & calling on Amazon CEO to lower their parcel targets back to a safe level. TreeCard is building the leading green finance brand. Weāre powered by Ecosia, the search engine that plants trees with 15M monthly active users.
Our first product, TreeCard, is a free top-up debit card that puts 80% of profits directly towards responsible reforestation investments. Weāve signed up over 100,000 users to our waiting list in the first month since announcement (breaking all of Revolut, Monzo and Curve's launch records). Our product sticks, with 40% of all sign ups being referred by a friend or family. Weāre planning to launch in Q1 of 2021.

Lead Backend Engineer
We are looking for an engineer to help us build out the backend that powers TreeCard.
You will be responsible for developing the backend platform from scratch, spanning a range of the tech stack, from integrating with our banking partners, to API architecture and design for our mobile client, to the execution of new microservices that the business will depend on like risk management, fraud detection, and big data analytics.

ENGINEERING TEAM
Our Engineering Team consists of over thirty-five Senior Engineers that are responsible for the end-to-end ownership of our platform, from architecture through to infrastructure. Individually they are all exceptional at what they do, but by working collaboratively within a team, consistently applying best-practice and automating absolutely everything they build world-class software for our customers.
There are a wide range of problems to tackle as an Engineer at Form3, from configuring nginx proxies to writing custom payment routing and handling logic. Itās very much a ābest tool for the jobā mentality here and our tech-stack is forever evolving. Our primary programming language is Go however we do have some services written using Java, Python and Ruby.
We are looking to speak with Senior Engineers that are EU citizens and based in the UK or Europe with;
Experience or interest in Go programming language
Understanding of distributed systems and cloud computing
Appreciate the **DevOps **culture and the value of automation
Place emphasis on code quality, BDD/TDD and software development best-practice
Are passionate about technology and enjoy working collaboratively within a team
Have a breadth of experience across a variety of programming languages

DESCRIPTION
Ravelin is pioneering the use of machine learning in the prevention of e-commerce fraud and has been very successful in the four years we have been in operation. Companies all over the world are accepting more transactions with fewer chargebacks thanks to our machine learning-based approach to fraud prevention.
THE ROLE
Ravelin is looking for a Software Engineer to own the development of a high volume fraud technology platform within a small tech team. You will be encouraged to have opinions about the strategic direction of the company and products, as well as owning the development team from the front.
In the day-to-day work, youāll be working closely with our skilled engineers to build internal processes that are so reliable they melt into the background and run software at scale under real-world conditions.
Ravelin also encourages learning and development of new and existing skills (machine learning, neural networks, python, Golang, cloud automation etc).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Developing reliable and resilient software
Working closely with Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Product Managers
Build internal process and tools
Build microservice architecture using Go
Contribute with ideas and suggestions
REQUIREMENTS
Substantial and demonstrable experience in a programming language(s)
Understanding of data structures and algorithms
Experience with Database (design principles)
Working experience with testing and quality
Knowledge of Version control
Preferable:
Experience with Golang
Knowledge of Cloud technologies (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
Agile software development

Yes. We don't need you to be a front-end person. We're looking for a great engineer in general, not a specialism - and this is the closest tag we could decide upon. So if you've ever felt "But I do lots of things! How do I present myself as capable doer of multitudinous things?" then you're perfect. "So do I need to build the front-end" Nope!
Unless that's your burning passion, in which case, hey, we'll hook you up.
What else? I want more. Open-source? Dev talks? Community?
Ok, we're going to be hitting the noise channels pretty hard to make a bit of a racket. We're engineers, and a lot of other engineers are getting on board with this idea of doing shared data "right".
So for us that means: meetups, blogging, tech talks, open-sourcing, spec-defining and platform designing. There will be lots of pizza and snacks because we're supposed to like pizza and snacks and Richard's pretty health conscious so there'll be some kind of vegetable presence too.
And if you like the sound of having a voice in the community, we will absolutely make that happen.
Whoa whoa wait, the salary?
Of course. We believe in hiring good people, and paying them well. This is a big role, it comes with a big salary. We're also offering equity, because we want everyone to be in the same boat.
