The team
Our engineering team consists of a group of 30 people (product leads, engineering leads, architects, product owners, front-end engineers, back-end engineers, QA engineers and UX/UI designers), all passionate about our expertise.

We, the Platform team, are responsible for the core application of HousingAnywhere and are the team where it all started for HousingAnywhere. Here you’ll find those we call the “dinosaurs” of HousingAnywhere. Djordy, our CEO, started our team back when he was Head of Product.
We have ownership of listing management (listing creation, calendar management and listing representation) and also of chat and bookings functionalities. On the frontend side:
Consolidate our React based frontend with tests and consistent design Provide users with a more fulfilling mobile experience through PWA technologies and principles Integrate real-time technology to deliver content to users quickly Continuously improve SEO through performance and content delivery

Pragmatically redesigning the core system to identify services and run them outside the main monolith Moving the core platform to Kubernetes and continuous deployment Rethinking the way we represent and store data to allow easier integrations through events and denormalization Monitoring and improving the performance of our private API. We’re currently moving our backend to a service-oriented architecture (microservices). Our main infrastructure is in Google Cloud Platform. We've been using React, GraphQL and Golang in production environments since the early days. Since a few years we’ve started using Kubernetes and nowadays all our new services run in the cluster.

OUR TECH STACK
As a serious, business-oriented company, we develop our solutions exclusively in COBOL.
Just kidding! We use modern and diverse IT infrastructure. Our solutions are web-based, with backends in Golang andPython and frontends in Typescript and React. Data storages include PostgreSQL, DynamoDB and Amazon S3. The infrastructure consists of multiple backend services managed via Kubernetes/Helm, integrated with various AWS and third-party services. We also use Google Bazel, a secure and robust build system.

You are part of a discussion that builds on top of each other suggestions, ideas and comments. Today you have chosen to come to the office and after lunch you play table tennis or pool or go for a walk with colleagues in the city centre. In the afternoon, you enter a deep work period and finish working on improving one of the provider’s mapping models. Once down with that work you jump on a zoom call with the rest of the team to discuss the challenges and next steps with the PoC the team is building in this sprint. Throughout the day you monitor the product operations using DataDog.

What do we do and why?
For over 120 million people who're deaf or hard-of-hearing, daily communication is a huge struggle. Inspired by co-founder Jari’s parents being deaf, SpeakSee is developing a multi-microphone system which transcribes speech to text on a web application in different colors for each person. This way the deaf person can read what's being said!
Presently available speech recognition solutions don’t work well for group conversations.
