We're currently a small team with big aspirations. You will be starting as a founding engineering team member working directly with the VP, Engineering, Principal Engineer, Lead Product Designer and all Co-Founders. We’re a highly collaborative group with extensive experience in both corporate and tech startup environments.

What We're Looking For

At Discern we’re applying the latest React, Go, and Cloud technologies such Remix, Gin, Temporal, sqlc, GKE and Dagger to solve complex business problems. We are seeking a passionate and experienced full stack engineer with a strong background in object oriented design, front and back end engineering and relational database design.

We are particularly interested in engineers who have a passion for and experience with the Go programming language, or at least a strong enthusiasm to learn and gain real world experience using Go.

Your Impact at Discern

  • You will work on our front and back and platform technologies to produce working features of the Discern product.
  • You will work closely with our Product Owners, our Lead Product Designer and other stakeholders, collaborating to ensure we produce high quality software.
  • You will provide input into the technologies, patterns and practices used to produce software at Discern.

About You

  • You have 3-5+ years building software with React and Javascript technologies, ideally with experience using Remix and Tailwind CSS.
  • You have 3-5+ years experience in Go, Python, Java or other comparable object oriented server side languages.
  • You have extensive experience designing relational database structures and using SQL.
  • You are passionate about solving business problems and have significant experience developing enterprise or SaaS business software using the above technologies and tools.
  • You are adept at debugging software defects and regression testing to prevent issues from resurfacing.

About The Role

We are building out our founding Engineering team. Senior Full-stack Engineers have the opportunity to work across the stack, front to back. In compliance with New York City Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role, adjusted for level, is between $140,000 - $190,000 in New York City. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors including level, skillset, experience, job scope, location, and current market data. COMPENSATION

About the role

As a senior software engineer, you will work closely with the CTO, be a critical part of our core team, and have a huge influence over the direction of the company. About the Grafana Enterprise Squad:

Grafana Enterprise teams work on building functionality and plugins as extensions on top of our open source projects to support the security, reliability, and scalability needs of enterprises and organisations with large deployments.

We just closed another round of funding to fuel our growth through this phase and are seeking a senior software engineer that can meet the demand generated by our new product strategy.

This role requires Eastern timezone work hours.

Role

We seek a Senior Software Engineer to work in a team of 4 highly skilled software engineers consisting of front-end, back-end and DevOps professionals. You’ll be responsible for leading a project, developing, testing and delivering reliable software solutions. You’ll use industry best practices, policies and procedures to produce high-quality software products. You’ll be part of the team helping scale our technology as we grow our customer base and 10x the number of wearables in the field in the next 6-9 months.

What You’ll Do

Individual contributor:

You’ll be an individual contributor who has domain expertise in our tech stack and can take ownership of projects. Prior experience with Go is required. Experience with React and AWS is a big plus. You’ll be ensuring all the unit and integration tests are in place for your contributions, and also help peer engineers with that. Collaboration and best practices:

You'll collaborate with Product Management, Design, Data and Hardware teams to create industry leading products and features that will delight our customers. You’ll be deeply involved in RFC and RFP processes to ensure software specifications are agreed upon in advance for the most efficient use of software development time. Tech Stack

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience You are a skilled software developer that can fit anywhere by quickly acquiring any specific coding skills as needed by your team

  • Always curious about new technologies and ways to do things better, and able to quickly pick up any specific coding skills you need to solve a problem.

  • have significant Golang coding experience preferably within a commercial or product focus
