Job Description

Status is building the tools and infrastructure for the advancement of a secure, private, and open web3.

With the high level goals of preserving the right to privacy, mitigating the risk of censorship, and promoting economic trade in a transparent, open manner, Status is building a community where anyone is welcome to join and contribute.

As an organization, Status seeks to push the web3 ecosystem forward through research, creation of developer tools, and support of the open source community.

As a product, Status is an open source, Ethereum-based app that gives users the power to chat, transact, and access a revolutionary world of DApps on the decentralized web. But Status is also building foundational infrastructure for the whole Ethereum ecosystem, including the Nimbus ETH 1.0 and 2.0 clients, the Keycard hardware wallet, and the Waku messaging protocol (a continuation of Whisper).

As a team, Status has been completely distributed since inception. Our team is currently 150+ core contributors strong, and welcomes a growing number of community members from all walks of life, scattered all around the globe.

We care deeply about open source, and our organizational structure has minimal hierarchy and no fixed work hours. We believe in working with a high degree of autonomy while supporting the organization's priorities.

About Waku

We are building Waku as a public good infrastructure. Waku is the messaging layer of Web3.

It is a decentralized, censorship-resistant, privacy-preserving communication network that enables anyone to send and receive messages without worrying about surveillance or deplatforming.

We are developing 3 open source implementations of Waku:

We are enabling Ethereum builders to create new projects with a fully decentralized architecture, think dApp to Wallet notifications, NFT marketplaces, censorship-resistant chat, layer-2 decentralization and more.

We are looking for a Software Engineer who is passionate about Ethereum, and decentralization. And who would relish the opportunity to champion Waku to other Web3 projects and developers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and document Waku Golang libraries (go-waku)

  • Maintain, improve, troubleshoot Waku React Native, the React Native wrapper of go-waku

  • Implement new protocols as defined by the Research Team

  • Investigate and fix issues in go-waku and upstream libraries such as go-libp2p

  • Optimize go-waku and upstream libraries for the mobile/React Native

  • Support dApp developers in using go-waku and Waku Golang libraries

You ideally will have

  • Experience building applications with complex logic, cutting edge technology or applied research

  • Ability to learn new concepts and technologies quickly, you are a polyglot

  • Experience building libraries in Golang, for network and mobile environments

  • Open to maintaining a native library for React Native

  • Good communication skills (written and conversational)

  • Strong alignment to our principles: https://status.im/about/#our-principles

Bonus points if

  • You are already familiar with the Ethereum community

  • You have experience with go-libp2p or other libp2p implementations

  • You have experience with C-Bindings & Cgo

  • You are in Web3 or blockchain development

  • You have experience working for an open source organization

  • You have experience working async

[Don’t worry if you don’t meet all of these criteria, we’d still love to hear from you anyway if you think you’d be a great fit for this role. Just explain to us why in your cover letter].

Hiring Process

  • Intro call with our People Ops team

  • Interview with member of the Waku team

  • Pair programming session with member of the Waku team *

  • Interview with Program Lead

Compensation

The expected compensation range for this role is $65,000 - $80,000 (negotiable, dependent on how we assess your skills and experience throughout our interview process. We are happy to pay in any mix of fiat/crypto).

$140,000 to $180,000 a year
March 2023
3 Applicants This Week
More Than 6 Months Old

Job Description

Coder is looking for a senior software engineer to join our growing team. We are dedicated to keeping developers in flow — removing the obstacles that prevent them from writing code at the speed of thought. We have amazing core technology and are always striving to make it better. Keep reading if you are as passionate about developer workflows and open-source software as we are.

You will work with Golang, Kubernetes, Typescript, React, and many advanced technologies to build the cloud developer workspace of the future.

About you

  • You’ve worked as a software engineer for at least five years (including relevant internships)

  • You're skilled in languages and technologies for systems-level engineering, e.g. C/C++, Rust, and Golang (especially but not necessarily). You are skilled in front-end technologies such as Typescript or React.

  • You care deeply about your craft. We build to last. Our customers deploy our software on-premises, so we want to make sure we get things right the first time. And we’re going to build a SaaS product, so automated testing will be essential for continuous delivery.

  • You want to work in a startup where your job isn’t just writing code but helping make the whole company successful

  • You want to have a major impact and grow as a professional in an opportunity-rich, supportive environment

While not necessary, we’ll be even more excited if you have:

  • Know the Go programming language

  • Have worked on enterprise applications, developer tools, or on-premises software

  • Like connecting directly with customers

  • Have experience with infrastructure technologies like Kubernetes, Nomad, and EC2

Interview Process

We believe that the interview process should be consistent and enjoyable. We prefer the entire process to take no more than two full weeks. During these two weeks, you will be able to meet a mix of individual contributors, managers, and one of our Co-Founders. If you interview for a position requiring a take-home assessment, we will compensate you for your work and time.

Our Values

Harness Your Inner Geek 🤓

Be who you are, use your unique talents to solve the problems you see, shout out your colleagues’ contributions and abilities, and be transparent and driven about what motivates you to do your best work here at Coder.

Be Bold and Show Your Work 💥

We’re going to fail sometimes, and that’s how we get better. Risks are a path to innovation, so we value bold, informed, fast-paced experimentation. And we also want you to communicate when it works – or when it doesn’t – so that we all can learn from each other.

Take Action with Ownership 🤝

Don’t wait for someone to give you permission to get things done. At Coder, we find leverage quickly and generate outcomes while staying lean. We don’t want you to “stay in your lane” - we want you to get curious, go after problems, and ship smart solutions together with your teammates. If you pick something up, take it to the finish line.

Don’t F$#k Your Team 🏆

We love what we do and work to achieve success together. We all win when we pitch in. We have fun and keep our goal in mind: to build a product that solves our users’ problems better than anything else. That means we jump in to help, make time for our teammates, and share our ideas so everyone can benefit.

Have Empathy for Our Users 🌏

We’re an open-core company, and we value user input, intensive collaboration, and empathy for our customers — from the biggest enterprises to the individual developers using our product to code faster and with less friction.

While you'll occasionally work on the APIs and data pipelines that power our user-facing systems, you'll spend most of your time building the platforms that make the API and data pipeline work possible for other teams without our direct involvement. You'll work regularly with operations and other platform teams to continually enhance the stability of our systems, and you'll also work alongside our feature and data science teams to enhance our service offerings.

You love developing software and your passion for building with code is palpable. You love spending time creating efficient, performant, and reliable data processing systems. You are particularly fond of building and using distributed systems to solve problems at scale. You love building applications and tooling on top of Go and Kubernetes, and you are familiar with how to make your applications observable for production operations.

While you’re a developer with a passion for writing good code, you also enjoy brainstorming sessions with your peers and product owners to discover the best solution to a problem. You see the importance of providing input and considering the points-of-view of those around you. At the end of the day, you enjoy being part of a healthy team culture that practices mutual respect.

Job Description

We are looking for both intermediate and senior Go developers who will be able to bring both their experience and knowledge into the team but most importantly, their passion and exuberance for development to the product.

Here at MachShip, we're disrupting the freight industry and building the world's premier cloud based Freight Management System. Our core product is a SaaS application using a containerised, micro-service based architecture hosted within Kubernetes. We are heavily invested in both our development team and the latest technology.

We are a young Australian Company with a team of 14 developers that is looking for Go developers to join our team. We cultivate personal development and team work here at MachShip. You would be joining a team and contributing to the team's agile sprints and working together to reach the sprint goals and deliverables. Our office is based in Richmond, Melbourne, however, our development team also works remotely throughout the country if that suits them.

We have several core systems written in Go and are currently building exciting, new greenfield projects in Go that will help our platform scale. In this role you will be one of the key developers of the product working with our stakeholders to create some truly ground breaking applications.

Core skills:

  • An absolute passion for working with the latest and greatest tech and a voice that wants to be heard
  • 1-3+ years experience developing in Go
  • Experience working in the web space with a variety of APIs (REST, GRPC, GraphQL, etc)
  • Previous experience with GitHub and Continuous Integration
  • Great comprehension and communication skills

Our ideal candidate would be:

  • Someone that enjoys problem solving and analysis. They are always striving to build the best solution possible
  • Someone who can think for themselves and keep the customer in mind when building new features
  • A developer that can take a development task from concept, design, development, testing and through to deployment

We're looking to hire for this position in our growing team very quickly, so don't wait - if you feel you are the right person for this job, send through your resume and cover letter. On your cover letter, please address each of the key skills, why you would be perfect for the role and what you would bring to the team.

Being a member of the MachShip team you will:

  • Be part of an agile, innovating and energetic team that prioritises pushing the boundaries and working with the latest technologies. We have daily stand-ups, fortnightly sprints and work within an agile environment
  • Develop your skill set with the latest frameworks including Kubernetes, GraphQL, Kafka, Temporal.io and Cloud infrastructure.
  • Work alongside amazing developers who are also at the top of their field. We value your opinion and all voices are considered when building our product.
  • We want you to be the best you can be. We have monthly one on ones and work with you to reach both your personal and professional career goals.
  • Have the potential to contribute during work hours to the open source projects that we utilise, many of them written in Go.
  • Be encouraged to share ideas and have a critical input into the development process.
