A PDF page extraction service, generating up-to 4k images per page of a PDF.
We also have some very exciting initiatives around live capture from multiple sources into the Frame.io cloud. We rely heavily on AWS services to build these systems; in fact our whole video encoding process was recently the subject of an in-depth AWS showcase that you can check out HERE.

Past experience with Cloud Computing platforms: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google App Engine or similar.
Past experience working with distributed systems, especially in a media business.
Great communication skills are a must.
Bonus points if you have
Worked across the full multimedia streaming and playback stack
Knowledge / understanding of audio video encoding such as H.264, AAC, HEVC, AV1 or streaming formats such as HLS, MPEG-DASH and also live streaming.
Experience with DRM and HLS-AES.

Experience in analyzing and improving performance of CDN infrastructure
Responsibilities
You'll work to plan, design, and execute new end-to-end multimedia-focused services and infrastructure for our customers and web, mobile and platform teams.
You'll work closely with other client and service teams to deliver your services. This means partnering to make sure you're designing clear APIs and well defined contracts. Ideally, you'd also learn to work throughout our tech stack.
You'll be responsible for running and maintaining the services you build – that means being on-call and accountable for meeting defined SLAs.
You'll be educating the wider engineering team on video engineering and the work you do.
You'll receive close guidance and mentorship from our engineering managers and leads, as well as code reviews from your peers.

Staff Software Engineer Copilot New York City, United States $150,000 to $230,000 a year
April 2023
4 Applicants This Week
More Than 6 Months Old
Job Description
About the role
As a senior software engineer, you will work closely with the CTO, be a critical part of our core team, and have a huge influence over the direction of the company. You will lead projects and work with cross functional teammates to design and implement systems like our API, notifications service, and authentication service while focusing on scalability and performance. We will compensate you well, invest deeply in your development, and do everything we can to make sure this is the single best work experience of your life.
What you'll do
You'll ship. You'll be working on the core product to engineer solutions across multiple modules including payments, messaging, and file-sharing. Whether it's fixing a bug or architecting a new feature, you'll move fast.
You'll be an owner. You'll be the leader of multiple projects and be responsible for their success. This involves closely collaborating with the founders and other engineers, creating engineering tasks, writing documentation, and setting up new services and scalable infrastructure.
You'll balance the short and long term. While knowing the importance of shipping quickly you also know how to craft thoughtful long-term technical strategy. You know when to address tech debt and when to improve infrastructure and processes (testing, code reviews, CI/CD).
You'll help build the team. The first 10 members of a startup dictate the next 100. You'll help interview and recruit more talented engineers.
You'll learn about startups. Aside from your core work, you'll have the opportunity to get involved in other areas - marketing, growth, ops, etc.
Who you are
You have good values. You understand why diversity matters and make others feel like they belong. You're low ego and make the workplace more fun for everyone.
You're entrepreneurial. You are comfortable with ambiguity and thrive in fast-pasted environments. You've likely worked at startups before or might want to start one in the future.
You're hardworking. You understand that building a category-defining company requires people that work smart and that also work hard.
You're experienced. You have 5+ years experience working on production software and have worked across the stack. You are comfortable with React, Typescript, Golang and NoSQL databases (Mongo, Dyanmo, etc.)
You know what matters. We believe your education is irrelevant; we only care that you can build great products. Likewise, in your work you're not religious about any one technology and care more about making progress.
You're a systems thinker. You don't identify as a particular (frontend/backend/etc.) engineer but are more interested in solving problems holistically.
You're resourceful. You are a fast learner and have a “get things done” mentality. If you don't understand something you quickly determine what to do to push forward.
You put users first. You think critically about the implications of what you're building. You're constantly putting yourself in shoes of the users and push back when necessary.
Tech
Mobile/Webapp: React-Native/React + Redux and Typescript
Backend: Golang and DynamoDB.
AWS Serverless architecture with Lambda, API Gateway, and Cognito.
Custom design system based on MaterialUI.
Bespoke websocket service to connect frontend and backend in real-time.

Backend Engineer Proton Boston, MA, United States / Remote $70,000 to $100,000 a year
February 2021
1 Applicants This Week
More Than 6 Months Old
Job Description
This role has no specific closing date
$70-100k plus equity and benefits
Boston, MA or Remote Considered
At Proton we're bringing cutting-edge technology to the world of business-to-business distribution. It's a large market that accounts for trillions of dollars of revenue a year and offers an enormous opportunity for growth. It's a huge chance to have an impact by shaking up an industry that's still waking up to the promise of technology. We have a chance to really transform the way a huge number of people work for the better, and bridge the gap between amazing software tools and human expertise.
To achieve those ends, we have organized the company into several teams, or "pods", tasked with providing value to different users, and we're looking for backend engineers to join two of them. One team is committed towards improving the effectiveness of Customer/Inside Sales Representatives, salespeople who are used to reaching out to prospective or renewing buyers over a phone line and trying to provide a valuable pitch to their customer. The other is dedicated to providing value for Outside Sales Reps, who typically find themselves on the road reaching out to prospects in person. As a member of either pod, you'll build backend systems in innovative and scalable ways with the end-user in mind, ultimately it's your choice which pod you'd like to join.
Our team codes in Python, JavaScript (using the Vue framework), and Go, with modern scalable document- and key-based data stores behind them. We prefer excellence to expediency. Backed by our microservice architecture, we want the best tool not the most convenient. If there’s a compelling case to write something in Clojure, we can and will do it. With strong foundations, specific knowledge of these tools is not required. As an early member of our growing engineering team, you'll have the opportunity to weigh in on design and architectural solutions that shape the company's future.
On the hiring process, you may have noticed that we haven't asked you for a resume yet. This is intentional, a longer explanation of why our process is so unorthodox and a primer of what to expect can be found in this blog post, but to summarize: we want to hire the brightest, not necessarily the most credentialed or best put on paper.
If you really know what you're doing, whether you're self taught or have spent your entire life until now in academia, we'd love to have you aboard the team.
We'd be thrilled to have you apply. If you've read this far, but decided not to apply, we'd love to get your feedback on why--let us know at hiring@proton.ai.
FullStack Engineer FuzzBuzz San Francisco, United States $110,000 to $140,000 a year
May 2020
1 Applicants This Week
More Than 6 Months Old
Job Description
About Fuzzbuzz
We're Fuzzbuzz and we're building a fuzzing as a service platform that integrates into CI systems and the modern software testing workflow. Fuzzing is a type of automated testing that generates and runs thousands of inputs per second on your code to try and find bugs and vulnerabilities. It uses code coverage and other signals from your code to guide the tests it generates and runs. You can read more here.
Last year, we raised a $2.7M seed round from some of the best tech investors & founders, namely Y Combinator, Fuel Capital, Solomon Hykes (Docker founder), Flo Leibert (Mesosphere founder), Spencer Kimball (CockroachDB founder), Michael Stoppelman (Yelp ex-CTO).
About the Team
We're currently a team of 5 people and prefer staying small - allowing us to iterate faster and get very comfortable working with each other (the 3 founders have been roommates since first year university). That means you'll be 16% of the team - all of the work you do will be extremely critical and immediately impact users. We pride ourselves in being a very humble, but capable team - the 2 founding engineers each have 20+ years of engineering experience.
Since we are really small, we prefer having everyone working at the same location. We’re at 541 Jefferson Ave in Redwood City, CA - 10 mins from the Caltrain (everyone's currently WFH because of COVID-19. We will resume working from the office when it is safe).
Why Fuzzbuzz?
1. Define the DevOps and security standards of tomorrow
Fuzzing is seeing more widespread usage than ever before, but there is still work to be done before it sees mass adoption. We're uniquely positioned to bring fuzzing to the developer community and make software testing more effective than ever before.
2. Product-first culture with an emphasis on engineering
Working on a technical product means working with very technical people. We embrace technical challenges and take them head-on. We use tools/frameworks because they get the job done, not because they're the current flavor of the month.
3. Early stage, funded startup
By joining Fuzzbuzz at this critical early stage, as one of our first team members, you'll be shaping not only our product, but our company & engineering culture as well. We're well funded, and pay in the top 10% of companies in SF at our stage.
What You'll Be Doing
Design, architect and build the Fuzzbuzz platform (frontend & API)
Work with our designer to build a beautiful platform with a focus on simplicity
Work with fuzzing team to integrate fuzzing tooling into the platform
Work with founders to define product roadmap
Define internal engineering standards, tooling and processes
Work and iterate closely with users
What We're Looking For
2+ years experience as a full stack software engineer
Solid understanding of Typescript
Experience building complex SPAs in Angular or React (using TS)
Experience with or willingness to learn Go
Experience designing and building APIs
Experience working with AWS
Familiar with Linux
Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development
Obsession with users and providing real value to customers rather than working with “cool tech”
Ability to navigate & take ownership of complex problems from design through to final implementation
Benefits
Full health, dental & vision insurance
Caltrain & Parking covered
Unlimited, guilt-free PTO

Job Description
DroneDeploy is the leading cloud software platform for commercial drones, making the power of aerial data accessible and productive for everyone. Trusted by businesses and individuals in over 140 countries worldwide, we are transforming the way drone users collect, manage and digest impactful data in a variety of industries, including agriculture, real estate, mining and construction. Simple by design and easy to use, DroneDeploy builds revolutionary software compatible with any drone. If you’re excited about drones and want to help us create a simple and seamless experience for drone users across the world, we’d love to hear from you!
The Challenge
The DevOps team is tasked with ensuring the reliability and security of our exponentially scaling platform, while serving as a force multiplier for the rest of the engineering organization. Other teams rely upon our expert guidance to design a product that earns the trust of our users, without slowing down the pace of development. We believe that automation and developer empowerment are the key to creating systems that are reliable and secure by default, while minimizing cycle times. We use a collection of SaaS, open source, and proprietary technologies; whichever provides the right solution and seamless integrations for that piece of the puzzle. Some of the key technologies we leverage include Docker (for code packaging and deployment), Kubernetes (for container orchestration), Ansible (for lightweight config management), and Terraform (to control our cloud infrastructure).
The Role
In this position you will be expected to:
-Have a mind for simplifying unnecessary complexity.
-Empathize with the people who use the systems you build.
-Excel at critical thinking and adapt to new situations.
-Anticipate future problems, without over-engineering the present.
-Share your expertise with others, but never stop learning new things.
We are looking for someone with:
-A depth of knowledge in at least one domain.
-Minimum of 2 years’ experience managing complex systems using software.
-Experience writing and maintaining software applications in languages such as Golang, Python, Ruby, Java, C#, JavaScript, C, C++, etc. (not just scripts, side projects ok).
-Available to work on-site within our San Francisco office, or work remotely on Pacific Standard Time hours.
-Familiarity with configuration management systems (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Salt, Terraform, CloudFormation).
-Experience solving difficult problems with a scripting language (e.g. Bash, Ruby, Python) in a Linux environment.
Bonus points:
-Experience with container technology (Docker/cgroups/LXC/etc) and container orchestration (Kubernetes/Mesos/CloudFoundry/etc).
-Experience with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc).
