We’ve built a way to program without writing code. Not another one of those drag and drop web site builders, they’re everywhere. We’ve done something different, a system focused on backends, kind of like Go but no-code. Users are be able to create APIs and functions as a service as well as visually build amazing PDFs and other communications that you’d expect from a backend system.

We’ve got a working product but it hasn’t yet been released because there are a few more parts we want to add and get right. A significant portion of the development has been done and we need someone to come in, pick that up and build on it. That’s where you could come in.

We’re looking for an advanced Golang developer to join us on this journey and be a part of our early team to help build our backend. You’ll need to be the type that is motivated by a challenge, able to code when a library or package isn’t available (you need to have great problem solving skills) and happy to build on the foundations laid by others. You’ll also need to be comfortable participating in the entire development lifecycle, from architecting to development to testing.

Our high-level tech stack is Go for our backend/core, speaking gRPC between services and gRPC-web to our web app UI which is written in Typescript and Vue. PostgreSQL, Bolt & minio cover storage.

We need a fluent English speaker, the role is full time, fully remote (even post Covid) and you need to be UK based.

This is a complex project with lots of challenges to solve. Responsibilities will include:

• Architecting and developing backend functionality, underpinned by Protocol buffers.
• Supervising technical aspects of the backend and participating in complex conception issues.
• Working with the frontend team to achieve a seamless integration.
• Improving the microservices architecture, readying for scaled deployment.
• Developing and integrating defined chunks of no-code functionality.

Mandatory Skillset

• 5 years+ commercial engineering experience
• Strong Golang experience (at least two years)
• Exposure to architectural patterns of large, high-scale web applications and micro-services
• Ability to work in an organised manner with test coverage, and other best practices
• Experience with relational, key/value and object store databases.
• Experience implementing authentication and user security (OAuth2, OpenID, etc).
• A good attitude to problem solving together.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Back-End Engineer to help build the most scalable and flexible APIs in the industry. You will be joining FindHotel’s Marketplace Platform Tribe. You will be working with other squads across tribes and closely interact and actively collaborate with the Software Engineers, Data Analysts, Data Scientist, and PO in the team.

We are working with a modern stack consisting of Go, Redis, AWS (ElastiCache, ECS, S3, Batch), Snowflake, and more. We process thousands of requests per second and integrate with many suppliers and other partners. The products developed by the Offers team are a core part of FindHotel’s platform allowing us to offer the best possible comparison and offers to every traveller, worldwide. Hence, anything that you will develop and ship on production will have an immediate effect on our users and on our business performance. We work in a flexible, results-oriented and customer-centric team structure, focussed on shipping value in a collaborative fashion, with hopefully just the right amount of bureaucracy.

What you will actually be doing / responsibilities

Work in a team to solve challenging problems, and design and develop products that will help to bring to our travellers the best deals available in the market. Identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvements in terms of performance, reliability, and code quality. Integrate and improve (new) provider integrations. Help to maintain and improve our infrastructure and scale it to support our continuous growth in a cost-effective way.

What a day in the office might look like

In the morning, you and your fellow engineers have a refinement session with the PO to discuss the upcoming features on the roadmap. You carefully consider the impact of the new feature on the entire product and raise questions and make suggestions of what is the most pragmatic approach to balance the technical excellence with the time to market. You are part of a discussion that builds on top of each other suggestions, ideas and comments. Today you have chosen to come to the office and after lunch you play table tennis or pool or go for a walk with colleagues in the city centre. In the afternoon, you enter a deep work period and finish working on improving a core component in the rates and availability API. Once down with that work you jump on a zoom call with the rest of the team to discuss the challenges and next steps with the PoC the team is building in this sprint. Throughout the day you monitor the product operations using DataDog.

Who we are looking for / requirements

• You hold a BSc or MSc in Computer Science or related field
• You have a proven track record of designing, developing and shipping highly scalable software
• You have a proven track record working in a fast-paced agile environment
• You have strong experience with at least two programming languages such as GoLang, C#, Java

Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll work on cutting-edge technologies to design, scale, and maintain micro-service oriented architectures. Backend is a core part of the TUI Musement’s business, it is used in internal projects as well as external-facing ones. TUI Musement’s backend architecture embraces the “backend for frontend” pattern. This approach allows us to easily connect our backend to a bunch of different client applications: SPA, mobile app, or other backend systems.

Your mission @ TUI Musement

• You will be a key part of a team that owns all phases of the product development life cycle, from conception to delivery to customers
• You will be required to collaborate with system architects and product managers to deliver high-quality technical solutions
• You’ll work on cutting edge technologies as well as mature technologies to design, scale, and maintain our backend architecture
• You’ll develop high-quality backend code with a strong focus on automated testing.
• You’ll participate in code reviews to guarantee high software quality standards and consistency across the codebase
• You’ll participate actively in our SCRUM ceremonies to plan sprints, estimate tasks, and continuously improve our methodology

What you are expected to bring

• Strong knowledge of Go
• Passion for software development and the ability to technically lead, communicate, collaborate at all levels of an organization
• Experience with API design, implementation, and maintenance (OpenAPI)
• Agile methodologies knowledge
• 5+ years of experience building, delivering and maintaining high-quality enterprise products and systems
• Deep focus on automated tests (unit, functional, integration)
• Experience working with AWS cloud solutions (RDS, S3, SNS, etc)
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced full stack engineer to join our talented team based in Switzerland (remote if needed). This person will help build and manage our entire infrastructure. This person will help createnew APIs for our various projects & as well maintain existing ones. He/She will build the user interfaces & connect the APIs to those UIs for various web applications & tools. He will also working closely with our DevOps team to continuously test/deploy updates.

Tasks

• Design and implementation of the overall web architecture
• Implementation of user interfaces
• Database administration
• Ensuring the entire stack is designed and built for speed and scalability
• Design and construction of the various required back-end
• Integrating our front-end UIs with the APIs
• Work closely with the devops to help improve continuous integration and deployment
• Create and maintain technical documentation
• Refactor existing code to remove technical debt
• Write and test code to ensure compatibility and stability: refine and rewrite as necessary.

Requirements

• 3+ working experience as a professional fullstack engineer, including:
  • Strong working experience with HTML, CSS, and
  • Strong working experience with at least one modern JS frontend framework (i.e. React, Vue.js, Angular)
  • Strong working experience with a back-end programing language (Javascript/Node.js, PHP, Go, Python)
  • Strong working experience with a RDBMS (PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, SQL Server, Oracle)
  • Strong working exprience with database design and management
• A thorough understanding of computer networks, architecture, operating systems, and data structures
• Experience working with Linux/Unix & shell scripts
• Understanding of Windows, PowerShell, & HyperV a plus
