You are a Software Engineer responsible for building and managing cloud-native applications across multiple clouds. In this role, you will develop, implement, and operate Couchbase's Cloud products. If you have experience developing applications using Go programming language (or willingness to learn) along with experience with either the three major cloud platforms- AWS, Azure, GCP, we'd love to have you apply.

Here's a brief look at what success looks like in this role:

• In 3 months time- you'll have collaborated with the team to build and shipped a material contribution such as a new feature, regularly contributed to code reviews, and fixed a few bugs.

• In 6 months time- you'll have earned the trust of the team and taken on independent code review responsibilities that help prevent bugs that are collaborating on the design of new features.

• In 12 months time- you'll have delivered tasks throughout the SDLC, from design through development with some guidance and have established a cadence of on-time deliver with high quality work.

This role is also open to remote work (USA, UK, India) as our teams are globally distributed. We are a remote-first team. Prior experience working remotely is not required, however, we are looking for team members who perform well given a high level of independence and autonomy and will establish a cadence of on-time delivery with high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, document, maintain and improve software

About The Role

In compliance with New York City Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role, adjusted for level, is between $140,000 - $190,000 in New York City. As a Senior Security Engineer, you’ll...

• Be a security subject matter expert and respond to any internal and external customer security engineering questions/requests
• Support and advise software engineering teams in the design of secure software. Coach and mentor other engineers
• Develop, implement, and communicate vulnerability mitigation strategies to development teams
• Threat model and pentest our internal and external applications
• Design, evangelize and implement security processes, technical controls, and architecture design patterns to enhance Lob's ability to prevent, detect, and analyze malicious activity
• Participate in defining security-related end user features in the Lob product
• Recommend and deploy tooling to manage security in the deployment pipeline as well as production systems
• Balance security risk with business goals and agility

For this role, we’re looking for...

• Proven interpersonal skills: Ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences. Collaborative approach to mentoring software engineers on the development of secure code
• Broad exposure to various security disciplines (at least 2 of application security, infrastructure security, incident response, account security, and risk & compliance), and understanding of the core principles behind security concepts
• Strong knowledge of web architecture, cloud and application architectures, and related security principles
• Systematic problem solving approach, coupled with a strong sense of ownership and drive
• Experience securing AWS based environments a plus, including security of different AWS Services, design of VPC architectures, best practices for IAM configuration and security of data within and across AWS accounts
• Experience with NodeJS and Golang a plus: having opinionated approaches to preventing and detecting vulnerable code patterns at scale
• Experience with Kubernetes and service mesh deployments a plus: CVE scanning, RBAC, mTLS, network security policies, pod security contexts, etc.

Implement well-designed web-based user interfaces using React Participate in the architecture of new micro-services for an enterprise level product Develop brand new RESTful services and JavaScript libraries Deliver high-quality code to production Collaborate with DevOps for cloud deployment Work closely in an agile team of product owner, engineers and scrum master in a collaborative environment REQUIREMENTS/CHARACTERISTICS:

Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Software Engineer You have experience programming in TypeScript/Node.js, Go (Golang) or similar modern language/s You have designed, built, and maintained REST APIs for use in production and you have experience working with Open API standards like Swagger. You can solve problems quickly and independently Experience using front end JavaScript frameworks like React (preferred), Angular, Vue or similar Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process preferred Familiarity with DevOps, continuous delivery, configuration management and tools is desired Knowledge of Microservices and respective architecture design principles and scalability best practices. Experience with Google Cloud Platform is highly preferred but not required. Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes highly preferred but not required
