Role

We seek a Senior Software Engineer to work in a team of 4 highly skilled software engineers consisting of front-end, back-end and DevOps professionals. You’ll be responsible for leading a project, developing, testing and delivering reliable software solutions. You’ll use industry best practices, policies and procedures to produce high-quality software products. You’ll be part of the team helping scale our technology as we grow our customer base and 10x the number of wearables in the field in the next 6-9 months.

What You’ll Do

Individual contributor:

You’ll be an individual contributor who has domain expertise in our tech stack and can take ownership of projects. Prior experience with Go is required. Experience with React and AWS is a big plus. You’ll be ensuring all the unit and integration tests are in place for your contributions, and also help peer engineers with that. Collaboration and best practices:

You'll collaborate with Product Management, Design, Data and Hardware teams to create industry leading products and features that will delight our customers. We're looking for a media focused systems engineer to join our growing engineering team. You'll work in an autonomous group that builds cloud-based services to power our entire media processing and delivery pipeline: the service at the very core of the Frame.io product. You will prototype innovative ideas and look to continuously optimize and enhance our media pipeline.

Some projects members of this team have built recently include:

• An HLS and Dash streaming video service, built using Cloudfront, Lambda@Edge and API Gateway.
• An on-the-fly watermarking system, encoding segments within Lambda functions.
• A PDF page extraction service, generating up-to 4k images per page of a PDF.

We also have some very exciting initiatives around live capture from multiple sources into the Frame.io cloud. We rely heavily on AWS services to build these systems; in fact our whole video encoding process was recently the subject of an in-depth AWS showcase that you can check out HERE.

As a team we work with petabytes of data, hundreds of thousands of video encodes per day, and the challenges and demands that come from working at the very forefront of delivering Enterprise grade secure review experiences. This is a great opportunity to enhance your cloud computing knowledge; you'll be expected to design, build, and maintain cloud-based services that our client teams and customers consume.

Requirements

• Experience working in Go (Golang), Python, Java, or C++.
• A background working with video or image processing.
• Past experience with Cloud Computing platforms: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google App Engine or similar.

Principal Software Engineer - Edge Data

You will be one of the first engineers working on a brand-new system that Fastly has been prototyping and is now beginning to operationalize. The system applies cutting-edge distributed systems theory — notably, CRDTs — to Fastly's global network to provide an infrastructure for state at the edge.

We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE). As an SRE, you will be tasked with the reliability and operation of our production environments. SREs are tasked with ensuring teams within the company receive help maintaining software at scale, as well as help designing and developing software for scale. At CommentSold we are building multiple complex systems to support our core e-commerce and mobile technology stacks, we have systems doing video transcoding, push and SMS messaging, mobile build pipelines and a few other interesting problems.

ClearBlade provides an industry leading IoT platform. As such it demands knowledge across a wide domain of computer languages, user interfaces and infrastructure. We are looking for an experienced software developer with a passion for quality, performance, and scalability.

This position is for a professional services engineer who is experienced with performing technical implementations and training customers and support in the ClearBlade platform. Candidate must be comfortable working alone and in a small team, but also comfortable with rapid growth of the team and the company. Good communication and cooperation skills are a must. Candidate must also be interested in providing technical support to clients and team.

REQUIREMENTS

• 3+ years in a professional services environment in the software industry • Ability to create modern web dashboards using standard HTML and Javascript technologies for demonstration • GoLang, C, Javascript, Python.
• Hands-on experience with Unix (Linux MacOS), Docker, Git/Github, BitBucket, Jenkins, and web servers. • Ability to autonomously pursue elegant solutions to open-ended problems. • Demonstrate experience with continuous integration and agile software development. • Practical experience with SDLC tools like Git/Github, BitBucket, Jira and Jenkins • Experience with major cloud offerings for compute, storage and networking • Understanding of protocols for enterprise communication (SOAP, JMS, AMQP), web server communication (REST, JSON, MQTT), device communication (BLE, Zigbee) and industrial communication (MODBUS, CANBUS, SNMP) • Strong analytics and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze issues quickly.

Highly Desired

• Familiarity and experience with IoT-specific development issues, including challenges associated with programming small sensor devices. • Experience with Google Cloud services and tools • Proven track record of identifying and championing new technologies that enhance the software quality, developer productivity, and end-user experience. • Experience in functional, regression, and performance testing. • Experience with IoT devices like Raspberry Pi as a gateway and a Silicon Labs Thunderboard as a BLE sensor.

A mindset focused on writing software that is well tested, secure by default, and performs at scale that can support millions of connected devices is a necessity. You must be able to collaborate with others well and work effectively on your own projects with little oversight.

This position will be based in Austin, TX. Candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to Austin, TX or the surrounding area.
