OVERVIEW

• Research, design, develop, and own solutions that provide feature-rich experiences in our Agent application.

About you:

• Programming experience in Golang is required. That being said, the right candidate will leverage their extensive engineering background to be impactful in any language.
• 10+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, monitoring, and maintaining client-side applications.
• Some familiarity with web installers, sequence diagramming, systems programming, DevOps, PowerShell, bash, zsh, etc.
• Windows and/or Linux and/or macOS application development experience.
• Experience working as a Software Engineer within an Agent Team or on the Agent is a plus.
• Excellent communicator, thrives within a tightly knit, cross-functional team environment.

$155,000 - $190,000 a year

COMPENSATION

Base pay is part of a rich total compensation package that includes bonus, equity and benefits. Actual earnings may be less or more depending on a candidate's direct experience, skills, industry knowledge, and location.

Requirements

• Experience working in Go (Golang), Python, Java, or C++.
• A background working with video or image processing.
• Past experience with Cloud Computing platforms: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google App Engine or similar.
• Past experience working with distributed systems, especially in a media business.
• Great communication skills are a must.

Bonus points if you have

• Worked across the full multimedia streaming and playback stack
• Knowledge / understanding of audio video encoding such as H.264, AAC, HEVC, AV1 or streaming formats such as HLS, MPEG-DASH and also live streaming.
• Experience with DRM and HLS-AES.
• Knowledge of advanced and emerging video standards such as HDR10, Dolby Vision, 360 videos.
• Experience in analyzing and improving performance of CDN infrastructure

Responsibilities

• You'll work to plan, design, and execute new end-to-end multimedia-focused services and infrastructure for our customers and web, mobile and platform teams.
• You'll work closely with other client and service teams to deliver your services. This means partnering to make sure you're designing clear APIs and well defined contracts. Ideally, you'd also learn to work throughout our tech stack.
• You'll be responsible for running and maintaining the services you build – that means being on-call and accountable for meeting defined SLAs.
• You'll be educating the wider engineering team on video engineering and the work you do.
• You'll receive close guidance and mentorship from our engineering managers and leads, as well as code reviews from your peers.

Job Description

As an Application Security Engineer on our Security Engineering team, you will support our cloud infrastructure by developing tools, building services and providing consultative services to our engineering teams. You will be a key member safeguarding our users who entrust Vimeo with their content every day. You will build tools, and services (We use Python, and Go). You’ll plan and carry out security measures to monitor and protect sensitive data and systems from infiltration and cyber-attacks. You love to solve puzzles, and are a great team player

What you’ll do:

• Contribute to the infrastructure, application and security teams at Vimeo
• Create services, tools and process to manage the security of our applications
• Perform regular security assessments of Vimeo’s platforms and software
• Identify and remediate weaknesses in our processes and procedures
• Configure systems to comply with industry best practices and hardening standards
• Prioritize, triage and remediate vulnerabilities and findings from system scans and bug bounty programs

Skills and knowledge you should possess:

• Solid understanding of OSI model, TCP/IP, HTTP and TLS
• Understands the principle of least privilege and the confidentiality, integrity, and availability triad and will work to enforce those concepts in our environment
• Experience with web application penetration testing
• Experience with languages such as Python, Go, Ruby, PHP, Node.js
• Experience with secure coding practices and automating security checks in pipelines
• Comfortable working in and across cloud environments like AWS and GCP
• Comfortable with DevOps style tools like Ansible, Chef, Terraform, GitHub, Jenkins, Puppet, etc.
