Job Description

Kava Labs is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer for the Kava lending platform, Kava's blockchain solution enabling decentralized stable coins, bonds, and lending for crypto users. This is a full time remote position. Candidates can apply from time zones ranging from PST (USA Pacific), to CET (Central Europe). You will be directly developing and deploying on a platform that is worth $500M and working to have $1B+ assets under management by the software. You will work alongside a team of world class crypto experts, and take ownership of an open-source project on a platform that transfers millions of dollars in assets daily and provide the financial primitives for the next evolution in crypto. You will have a huge impact on product and technology development.

What You Will Do.

  • Write financial applications using a blockchain application framework written in Go-lang called the Cosmos SDK.
  • Write interoperability software for communicating between blockchains (IBC relayer, BEP 3 Deputy).
  • Write supporting applications and developer tools in Golang that are used by Kava developers or users of the Kava DeFi platform.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Kava codebase and related components of the cosmos-sdk (Kava, Tendermint)
  • Review pull requests and provide valuable feedback to members of the team and open source contributors.
  • Work with Kava blockchain engineers to optimize performance and squash bugs.
  • Report to the Head of Engineering and attend Daily Stand-up meetings via Zoom.

Who You Are.

  • 7+ years minimum as an experienced Backend Engineer, at least 3 years in senior position required.
  • You are a strong individual contributor in Go with 3+ years of experience.
  • You have solid engineering fundamentals, a computer science degree is preferred.
  • You are comfortable working in an open source environment, your work is out there for everyone to see and scrutinize.
  • You are meticulous and detail oriented. This is financial software, it’s of utmost importance that it is secure.
  • You care about quality and you know what it means to ship high quality code.

Role

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our growing Engineering & Product Department, to help drive meaningful outcomes and deliverables via our Engineering Team, whilst fostering a supportive, high performing and growth oriented environment within our Team.

  • Helping break down team milestones into achievable projects that align to Vidsy’s roadmap and Vision.

Required Experience

  • Prior experience managing teams of high-performing software engineers.
  • Proven track record of scaling up engineering teams.
  • Although you maybe ‘hands off’ now, a background in software engineering is essential, and a passion for engineering and constant curiosity that enables you to stay up to date.
  • Proven experience taking accountability for technical deliverables through a managerial post.
  • An excellent communicator and relationship builder - able to help mentor junior engineers and challenge them to progress within their respective roles, right through to working with C-Suite on achieving Vidsy’s product roadmap and vision.

You’ll be leading the development of some of Bud’s most critical internal services that are utilised by product teams across Bud as well as owning a number of core platform exposed services that are non-product specific for domains such as authentication and traffic management. Every request that hits the Bud Platform will end up touching at least one of the services you’re responsible for.   • You'll chiefly be using Go working on our various internal or exposed services although we also have a number of services in our Platform written in Python.

A bit about you

  • You are a well-rounded, inquisitive engineer who enjoys solving complex problems using clean, efficient and creative methods and putting those solutions into action working in a team
  • Proven experience with Go; and a great foundation with another programming language (e.g. Java, C, C++, Ruby, PHP or Python)
  • You think about resilience, reliability and scalability on-par with other functional requirements and are experienced in balancing and implementing strategies against requirements in these areas

For example, if it’s a production issue the priority is to fix the immediate problem and collect all the data necessary for root cause analysis. Volume delivers software tools and user experiences that increase protocol token utility and community engagement, measured by protocol transaction volume growth. The Volume team’s interests are the protocol interests: Growth of user transactions.

Volume successfully launched Sommelier’s first iteration as PeggyJV, bringing the Cosmos Ethereum bridge to market and resulted in Sommelier raising a total $25MM in funding to launch the first automated DeFi blockchain to manage Liquidity Provider capital on Ethereum via the Cosmos. Sommelier consists of the Cosmos Stargate SDK, its Tendermint-based consensus layer and a decentralized, bi-directional Ethereum bridge, managed by a global network of validators. Liquidity Providers (LPs) will be able to use Sommelier to author and execute complex, automated financial transactions, such as portfolio rebalancing, limit orders, as well as a host of other features that token holders have come to expect from centralized finance (CeFi), but that are not currently available in DeFi.

Our investors include Polychain Capital, Alameda Ventures, Standard Crypto and Multicoin.

About the Role:

As a Senior Golang Engineer on our Engineering team, you will have a chance to work across the full spectrum of our protocol architecture that is built around the Cosmos-SDK, built in Golang, Rust and Solidity. Our software empowers Sommelier validators to secure the Sommelier network which offers financial automation globally. As an early employee you will be a critical part of our core team and have a significant influence over the direction of the company.the direction of the company.

Why We’re Hiring

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer with experience working in and leading agile development teams. This role will be responsible for building features for our marketplace partners. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in distributed systems and Golang. Experience in React or React Native is a bonus but not required.

What You'll Do

  • Spend most of your time working in Golang.
  • Take full ownership and responsibility for building, shipping, and maintaining features.
  • Architect and build complex new systems, focusing not only on scalability, but also on creating an amazing experience for our partners.
  • Work closely with product and engineering leadership to spec-out, design and implement solutions for our stakeholders.
  • Understand and collaborate on complete product lifecycle from concept to execution.

  • Bonus points if you have front end experience, specifically React/React Native (not required).

Who You Are

  • Bachelors Degree in computer science or related field
  • At least 5+ years of professional software development experience at a consumer software company.
  • Recent experience developing in Golang and preferably React.
  • Strong background with distributed and event-driven computing architectures.
  • Quality-first mindset with focus on test automation and CI/CD.
  • Expert level of knowledge of system architecture and scalability.
  • Comfortable with emerging technologies, and assessing technological risk within a high-traffic production environment.

What we’re building

PowerSpike is building the world’s first Influencer Exchange.

What we need

We’re looking for a dedicated, passionate, innovative, and security-oriented Backend Web Developer to work on bringing PowerSpike’s databases and API’s to life.

Reporting directly to the VP of Development, you will be responsible for building bug-free data solutions which will deliver information to influencers, brands and advertisers to help them make critical marketing decisions for their spends. What are we looking for?

As we expand our engineering team, we are looking for an experienced back-end developer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can help us build and scale our product beyond the MVP. Currently we've built a web application, but next on our radar is to build a mobile app.

You will be one of the first hires of the company and working closely with our CTO and the co-founding team. Since we are an early-stage startup, you will have more responsibilities than in a regular role and play a large part in shaping the next features of the application.

Currently we're all working remotely, but post-covid we're looking for someone who is willing to commute to our London office once or twice a week.
