Worldwide about one-third of all food produced is wasted. Looking at The Netherlands, for the hospitality industry alone, this adds up to 150 million kilos yearly!

Our solution builds upon most recent developments in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Providing our customers in hospitality with an easy and effortless way to measure the food waste in their kitchen. Using a smart camera connected to a scale, we track food waste on a level of detail not seen before. Connecting it to external and internal sources such as buying, stocking and sales data we are able to provide targeted insights to help optimize.

We use a modern stack, working with Golang, Python, JavaScript and technologies such as TensorFlow and PyTorch. We believe in automation and making our own lives as easy as possible. Such that we can focus on what is important. For this we rely on CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, serverless and cloud managed services using Google Cloud Platform, docker containers and Kubernetes.

About the position

  • A senior role within a small and rapidly growing team;
  • The company is roughly divided into the following teams: dev, AI, data, customer success, sales and marketing;
  • Your role will be within the dev team, working on the core product and supporting the other teams;
  • Involvement in strategic product development decisions.

The ideal Backend & Cloud Developer

  • Bachelor or Masters degree (ideally in or related to Computer Science);
  • Enthusiastic, motivated and you come up with pragmatic solutions;

You will be part of a small, dedicated and cross-functional team where you will have a large and diverse set of responsibilities to support Bloomreach, its customers and its partners.

Must haves

  • A university degree (preferably in Computer Science or a related field of study)
  • Extensive experience in programming platform and/or infrastructure level software products in Go, Java or C++
  • Cloud (building) experience with technologies/services like Kubernetes, Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform
  • Thorough understanding of and experience administering Linux

Job Description

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to join our TechOps squad at Monzo.

Our TechOps squad is primarily responsible for making sure everyone at Monzo has all of the tools they need to do a great job. That means managing all of our devices (predominantly running Mac and Chrome OS), managing our G-Suite domains, providing 1:1 support to Monzonauts across the business, and much much more.

A big contributor to the success TechOps have had to date is the way we’ve embedded engineers in the squad, meaning we’ve been able to automate away a lot of the manual work traditionally associated with a TechOps squad.

This has allowed us to move quickly, achieve an incredible ratio of TechOps people to total employees, and reap the benefits of being able to hire people all across the world without friction.

You’ll help us solve problems such as:

  • How do we continue to offer outstanding service to all of our Monzonauts without exponentially increasing the number of people working in TechOps? What can we build to automate the work of 20 people?
  • What parts of traditional IT can we rethink with code to supercharge TechOps at Monzo?
  • How do we build a seamless, delightful experience for Monzonauts with best-in-class homegrown code and third party services?

The role

You’ll be a backend engineer in the squad. Some of the projects you’ll be involved in might include:

  • Integrating MDM (Mobile Device Management) and making this a function that integrates with everything else at Monzo, from inventory to access levels on your AWS account.
  • Building a seamless way to replicate groups, roles and other logical frameworks across first and third party applications to make authorisation for a Monzonaut a seamless experience.
  • Building on a system to track any and every Monzo-owned asset, from network switches to access passes and everything in between.
  • So much more - you’ll have the opportunity to influence our roadmap and build on the foundations already in place to continue scaling TechOps with Monzo

You’ll work closely with TechOps generalists and engineers from around the business to tackle some of the challenges mentioned above, working at the intersection between Security, People and TechOps to make sure we’re moving forwards together.

Security, scalability and how we continue to support the services you’re building should always be front of mind.

You’ll also have the opportunity to coach and mentor others in the squad on engineering best practices. We want to empower everyone in the squad to automate away the low-value manual work, and you’ll be key to unlocking this potential alongside other engineers in the squad.

Monzo works in project-based sprints in small, interdisciplinary teams

We have around 150 engineers out of roughly 1,400 people in total - and we have big ambitions. There are many interesting challenges ahead, and we're happy for people to move between teams or to specialise, whatever you prefer. As an engineer here you'd be able to work directly with anyone across the company, and we run regular knowledge-sharing sessions so you’ll learn heaps about everything from how banks work to effective communication.

At Monzo you will get to work with a lot of exciting new technology.

  • Cassandra for most persistent data storage

This role is all about collaborating across disciplines to test hypotheses and make a difference to customers. As a product backend engineer you’ll work in a squad alongside product managers, marketers, user researchers, designers, mobile engineers, web engineers, data analysts, business analysts, writers and more!

  • You’re an engineer who's happy writing (or would like to learn to write) views in React and backend services in Go

Logistics

Salary is around £69,000 - £116,000 plus stock options and other benefits.

This role can be based in our London office, but we're open to distributed working (with ad hoc meetings in London once COVID is over).

Engineering at GoCardless

The technical challenges of building GoCardless span from simplifying building banking schemes to optimising the time to render the dashboard. We’re looking for engineers to join our growing Global Network Group, where you’ll be working on problems that sit at the core of GoCardless: orchestrating and keeping track of the movement of funds, as well as building and maintaining the bank and scheme integrations that make it possible to keep our merchants’ cash flowing.

Our technologies: We endeavour to build simple, reliable systems and we believe in using the best technologies for each task. Joining the Global Network Group you’ll be working in a team that primarily uses: Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, and Google Cloud Storage. Across GoCardless, our other technologies include: Golang, Python, React, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Google Cloud (GCP).

Job Description

Back is a young software company from Berlin with the mission to enable companies to focus on what they do best. We’re building a collaboration and automation platform to untangle repetitive questions and workflows around the workplace.

You will join our experienced engineering team to build our machine learning pipeline and develop some of our first machine learning supported features. If you are excited about building highly scalable solutions built on a modern stack using best practices then this role is perfect for you.

This position is based in our growing HQ in Berlin.

🔨 What you will do

  • You will take ownership of automation features from the beginning - understanding the problem - to the end - deploying the model on production -.
  • You will setup the environment to speed up our machine learning development.
  • You will implement and tune state-of-the-art ML models to get the best results given the available data.
  • You will effectively communicate and document your approach, progress, results and challenges with the team.
  • You will help us grow the machine learning team: enforce best practices, interview candidate, etc.

👩‍🔬 Who are we looking for

  • You can quickly grasp the business context of the problem and using your knowledge of how the model is going to be used, you can choose the right evaluation metric.
  • You can dig deep into the data to choose the right dataset split and identify pitfalls arising from non-iid samples.
  • You can combining both your practical and theoretical ML knowledge to set the right priorities when choosing which idea or approach to try next.
  • You find the simplest solution to solve complex problems programmatically.
  • You find joy in delivering features to your customer rather than doing academic research.
  • You like to work in a team and challenge your choices with your peers.

🦾 What challenges will you face

  • You'll work on complex NLP problems touching multiple domains: multiple language understanding and feature extraction.
  • You'll work on unbalanced datasets, not all our customers are the same size.
  • Our customers have different processes, different vocabulary. You will face dual-domain adaptation problems.
  • The good news: our application generates labeled data and we capture all the signals of our users' interactions, so you'll focus on training models, not labelling data. Yeah!

Job Description

Who are we?

Audius is a decentralized, community-owned, and artist-controlled music-sharing protocol. Audius provides a blockchain-based alternative to SoundCloud to help artists monetize their work and distribute it directly to fans. Audius launched it's public beta at the end of September and within the first week over 30,000 users listened to 13,000 tracks from artists that signed up to use Audius including Deadmau5, 3LAU, Brownies and Lemonade, Zeds Dead, with exclusive content from Rezz, Lido and others.

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for a backend engineer to help us design, build, and architect the Audius protocol. You are a collaborative, team player that enjoys working with a small team to solve big problems that need innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, architect and build the Audius protocol
  • Develop a set of services that run on the decentralized Audius ecosystem
  • Help finish the product for public launch later in the coming months

Skills and Experience

  • Knowledgable about node.js, python, postgres, redis, docker, kubernetes
  • An understanding of distributed systems
  • Experience with system design and architecture
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills within a small team

Bonus Points

  • Experience working with a start-up
