We are looking for an enthusiastic backend developer who can join us in our growth phase.

As junior / mid-level / senior backend developer you will work with:

• Developing your own micro services;
• Distributed, scalable, fault-tolerant, high-throughput systems (>10k events / second);
• Programming language GO;
• Mongo, ElasticSearch, RabbitMQ;
• Kubernetes;
• Continuous integration, Gitlab;
• Peer reviewing, collaborative programming;
• Stress-testing of our production systems.

We make decisions based on data, it’s the core of our business, and it’s providing insights into the effectiveness of our product and features. We believe data powers creativity and productivity, and that a robust, reliable and scalable infrastructure is needed to support this.

Our Observability team is operating the solutions that make gaining insights from data possible with monitoring, logging, metrics and other telemetry tools. The team is responsible for simplifying the process of building data and metrics-driven products and features. This is a high impact, high visibility role that directly affects the experiences of all our engineers.

As we take on more services and responsibilities, we're looking to add another member to the team.

What you will be doing:

• Design, build, and operate the observability stack of large-scale data infrastructure systems from the early stage
• Improve the stack, dive into new technologies and figure out how best to monitor them
• Provide easy ways to understand the state of the services at a given point in time, including the ability to trace requests across multiple services
• Work with development teams in an advisory capacity to optimize usage of monitoring and logging tools: what to log, measure and alert, which metrics and events are important and why through guidance, documentation and internal discussion
• Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge, including Open-Source projects
• Mentor and guide junior engineers as the team grows

The experience we are looking for:

• Designing, implementing and debugging large-scale data infrastructure systems, and identifying their performance bottlenecks
• Understanding of long-term impacts of key design decisions and handling failure scenarios
• Experience in Go is a big plus, but not strictly required and experience with a similar backend language would suffice. Our team can teach you and get you up to speed
• Monitoring and operating open source software in production at scale e.g. Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker
• Operating telemetry tools, e.g. the ELK stack, Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, Istio and others

RackTop Systems is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Golang Software Developer to join its data management platform team. RackTop develops innovative products that are revolutionizing the data storage industry by combining high-performance network attached storage with advanced security to solve the most difficult compliance and cyber security challenges facing the modern enterprise. At RackTop, you can be an influential part of a fast-growing team where your contributions directly impact the company, industry and community. Position Requirements • Develop high performance microservices using the Go programming language • Develop REST and RPC based client and server applications • Design cross-platform software to run on Unix, Windows, Linux, and Mac platforms • Experience interacting with SQLite and MongoDB databases • Experience working with the Atlassian Jira, BitBucket, Confluence suite • Experience working in a high-pressure, fast paced agile development • Security application development experience desirable • CGo experience desirable • Must be a US Citizen • At least 1 year of experience programming in Go, and 4 years total software development experience • Bachelor’s Degree or higher is desired

About Careibu Careibu is all about social care. Through our platform, we connect students to people for help at home. Our students work as babysitters, home cleaners and elderly assistants. Careibu’s Dutch community consists of 32.000+ students and 13.000+ clients. In Juni 2018, we officially launched in the German market (Berlin). Our mission is to bring all generations in society together and provide students a social side job.

Careibu was founded in student accommodation by two sisters, Lotte and Anne. They have grown the business from their student rooms to a team of 13 people which continues to rapidly grow. Our head office is located in Amsterdam.

Things we are working on We’re still a small company with an even smaller development team (CTO, product owner, backend developer and 2 mobile developers). This means you will need to wear many hats in the beginning but it also means there are many interesting challenges ahead that you can specialise in if you like. Broadly we are: – Migrating from legacy platform which has some interesting challenges – Improving and expanding our iOS & Android applications

Our technology stack We still maintain a stack built in Angular 1 (web UI), PHP (backend) and MySQL (data), however we are incrementally migrating to a new technology stack based on a Golang backend with native mobile apps (Swift for iOS and Java for Android).

Since we develop, test, deploy and operate our systems, we do work with other technologies that automate such processes, like GitLab, GitLab-CI, Docker and AWS’s ECS & RDS.
