At Golang Cafe, accessible from Golang.cafe, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by Golang Cafe and how we use it.

If you have additional questions or require more information about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us at hello@golang.cafe.

This Privacy Policy applies only to our online activities and is valid for visitors to our website with regards to the information that they shared and/or collect in Golang Cafe. This policy is not applicable to any information collected offline or via channels other than this website.

Consent

By using our website, you hereby consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.

Information we collect

The personal information that you are asked to provide, and the reasons why you are asked to provide it, will be made clear to you at the point we ask you to provide your personal information.

If you contact us directly, we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, phone number, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you may choose to provide.

When you register for an Account, we may ask for your contact information, including items such as name, company name, address, email address, and telephone number.

Talent Network & Candidate Data

When you join our Talent Network by uploading your CV/resume, we collect the following information:

  • Your CV/resume document and its contents (work history, skills, education, etc.)
  • Contact information (name, email, phone number, location)
  • Work preferences (remote/on-site, employment type, availability)
  • Compensation expectations (salary range, hourly rate)

How we use your candidate data:

  • To match you with relevant job opportunities
  • To create an anonymized profile that may be shown to potential employers
  • To contact you when we identify a potential match

What we do NOT do with your data:

  • We do NOT sell your CV or personal data to third parties
  • We do NOT share your full profile (including contact details) with employers without your explicit consent

Anonymized Profiles:

We may create anonymized versions of your profile to present to potential employers. Anonymized profiles do NOT include your name, email address, phone number, or other directly identifying information. They contain only your skills, experience level, work preferences, and general location (e.g., city or region).

If an employer expresses interest in your anonymized profile, we will contact you first. Your full profile and contact details will only be shared with the employer after you provide explicit consent.

Confirming your email:

When you choose your CV on the upload form, we read it right away to fill in the contact details it states, such as your email address, phone number and LinkedIn profile, so you can check them before you send the form. We keep nothing from that reading. When you upload your CV, we email you a link to confirm your email address. We add your profile only after you confirm. The upload form and the page that link opens run a Cloudflare Turnstile check: it keeps bots from using the form, and lets the link confirm without a click while automated link scanners can't. Cloudflare loads its check on those two pages only, and it reads technical signals from your browser and your IP address (not your CV or your email address) to tell people from bots. If the check on the confirmation page doesn't pass, you confirm with a button instead. If you don't confirm within about 20 hours, we send one reminder. If you didn't upload it, reply to the email and we'll delete it. Otherwise we keep what was uploaded, confirmed or not, and you can ask us to delete it at any time at hello@golang.cafe.

Applying for a role we recruit for:

Some of the roles on our job board we recruit for ourselves, on behalf of the hiring company. When you apply for one, we keep your application (your CV and the details on the form) and read your CV against the role's requirements to help our team review applications. For that reading, your CV goes to TypeSafe with your name removed. Our team reads the applications; if yours is a strong fit, we email you. Applying doesn't add you to our talent network, and we send you nothing unless we contact you about the role. We keep your application until you ask us to delete it at hello@golang.cafe.

If you also tick "Also join our talent network", we email you a link to confirm your email address, as above, unless your confirmed profile already has the same CV. Joining also remembers your browser, so you can apply to our other roles in one click: we keep a small record in your browser's local storage on this site (a signed code that identifies your application or your profile, your first name, and your CV's file name and date; not your CV or your email address). Confirming your email does the same in the browser you confirm it in. It expires 90 days after your latest application, and "Not you? Forget me on this device" on the application form, or "Forget it" on the confirmation page, deletes it straight away. A one-click application sends us the CV and details of your earlier application, or the CV you confirmed with your profile's details, again, for the new role.

Service providers:

These providers process candidate data on our behalf, only to provide their service to us: Vercel (website hosting), Cloudflare (CV file storage, and the Turnstile bot check on the CV upload and email confirmation pages), Neon (database), OpenAI (reading your CV to build your profile), TypeSafe (scoring CVs against job requirements in our matching tools and for applications to roles we recruit for), Resend (sending our emails), Google Workspace (our own email, including replies to our emails) and Slack (our team's internal notifications about new profiles and applications).

Your Rights:

You may request to have your candidate profile and CV deleted from our systems at any time by contacting us at hello@golang.cafe.

Log Files

Golang Cafe follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and a part of hosting services' analytics. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users' movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.

One exception: when you upload a CV, we store a keyed hash of your IP address and of your network with the upload, to limit abuse of the upload form. We don't store the IP address itself; the hash is made with a secret key that only we hold, and we clear it 24 hours after the upload.

Cookies and Web Beacons

Like any other website, Golang Cafe uses 'cookies'. These cookies are used to store information including visitors' preferences, and the pages on the website that the visitor accessed or visited. The information is used to optimize the users' experience by customizing our web page content based on visitors' browser type and/or other information.

When you join our talent network while applying for a role we recruit for, or confirm your email address, we also keep a small record in your browser's local storage, so you can apply to our other roles in one click. It holds a signed code that identifies your application or your profile, your first name, and your CV's file name and date. It expires 90 days after your latest application, and "Not you? Forget me on this device" on the application form deletes it.
