Senior Software Engineer (Go) with LevelSponsored
Remote
$110,000 to $115,000 a year

Job Description

About Us

Level (https://level.io) is an exciting startup that will soon be entering the remote monitoring and management space. We’re fans of the “Lean Startup” methodology and after many customer conversations, we’re almost ready to launch our MVP. We feel like this space is stale with older products that offer a poor user experience. Our product features a simple interface and exciting technology that none of our competitors are utilizing.

We’re backed by the founders of a very successful Managed Service Provider (MSP). They have extensive experience in the IT space and have proven invaluable in helping us validate that we are building the correct thing.

Salary

$110,000 - $115,000

Level Senior Engineer Role

Level is building a modern remote management and monitoring solution. We are a small team that is well funded and close to launching to our early access customers. We are searching for a strong, multi-talented individual contributor who is comfortable with systems-level programming and networking who can contribute to our agent, written in Go.

Must-Haves

  • Deep knowledge of a systems language like C, Rust, or Go.
  • Not afraid to dig into an RFC. Low-level internals excites you, rather than scare you away.
  • Experience with system-level APIs in Windows (win32), macOS, and/or Linux.
  • Excellent written communicator.
  • Willing to learn and work with Go.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Significant WebRTC experience. You have built something with Pion.
  • C/Objective-C experience, sometimes using system APIs means writing bindings to use in Go.
  • Video encoding experience. You have worked with H264 and understand the spec.
  • Building cross-platform libraries, our Go agent compiles to Windows, Darwin, and Linux on a variety of architectures.

Things you might work on

  • Building a cross-platform interface to query the active processes on an OS and transmit them over a WebRTC Data Channel to our web app.
  • Working with libav to create a custom h264 encoder to reduce the latency and bandwidth of streaming a device.
  • Creating a system tray GUI for the agent.
  • Securely allowing scripts to be executed against a machine and piping the results over a WebSocket connection.

Why you might want to work with us

  • We are a small, fully remote engineering team, and there are no layers of bureaucracy. You can have a huge impact here.
  • We are very flexible with working hours, we don’t expect you to work a consistent block of time, we trust you to get your work done.
  • We are on the cusp of launching our MVP and starting to grow.
  • We will offer profit sharing so our small team will receive dividends on profits the company makes.

More About Us

We are a startup headquartered in beautiful downtown Asheville, NC. We are a small, close-knit team working to upend the RMM market with a new product. Our CEO and leadership team have done extensive product research and are focusing on traction channels to grow while the product is being built. Though we are a startup, our investors have given us a multi-year runway.

We have already made substantial progress towards an MVP. We need someone to come in and help finish our Go agent who is an experienced self-starter that can make an impact on our product development. We aren’t interested in someone that just wants to work down a list of pre-defined tasks. Our ideal candidate loves working on products and will help shape the direction of ours. We hope to launch within the next couple of months and want someone to come on this journey with us.

We really like the Basecamp philosophy and try to make sure that it doesn’t have to be crazy at work. We won’t ask that you work weekends, or late into the night. We don’t mind if you need to leave for an appointment in the middle of the day. We understand that software development doesn’t happen for 8 hours straight and don’t worry about counting time in the chair. We trust that given a fair timeline with a scope that you help us determine you will be able to deliver features. We are concerned with the end goal, not micromanaging you on the way there.

Pay

We’re looking for someone great, but are an early-stage startup. We are offering a rate of $110-$115k plus (eventually) profit sharing. We know you could make more elsewhere, but this is an opportunity to jump onto a startup that has the chance to grow quickly in revenue where our profit sharing will ensure you are compensated for the value you bring.

Cash Payment Solutions GmbH Logo
Software Engineer with Cash Payment Solutions GmbH
Berlin, Germany
€35,000 to €42,000 a year

Job Description

How do you design and implement an API that communicates with thousands of cash registers in all stores of REWE, Penny and real,-? How do you automatically transfer money between different banks?

Software Engineer (f/m/*)

We operate Germany’s largest independent payment infrastructure. Customers can use different services in several supermarkets to e.g. pay their invoices and deposit or withdraw cash from their private bank accounts using smartphone apps.

In the process of further developing our systems and implementing new projects, we are looking for software engineers that meet the following criteria:

  • You love coding! Software development is not just a job for you. You code on private projects as well and you are interested in the industry’s latest developments. You are fluent in at least one programming language.
  • In the future, you want to program in Ruby and Go! It would be awesome, if you have already worked with these two languages but in case you have not, that is also no big deal. In our experience, developers get productive in these languages very fast.
  • You are interested in the big picture! You want to know and understand how everything is connected, starting with our public APIs, to our internal services and the PostgreSQL database. It is your goal to ensure an error free operation for all our production systems through a mixture of code reviews, unit + integration tests and monitoring.

We know you are in high demand. Here is why we are different and why you will love working for us:

  • Our office is located in the middle of Berlin and is easily accessible using public transportation. We will procure your preferred technical devices, so that you can code as productively as possible. We also offer flexible working hours and the possibility to develop yourself further not just in your work-related area of expertise, but in other areas as well.
  • We have experts in the IT, as well as in all other departments, with excellent connections to other companies throughout Berlin and Germany. You can learn a lot of new things and experience how to build a “FinTech” from the ground up and how to establish it in the market.
  • After creating a solid base of operations in Germany over the last 8 years, we plan to realize several large projects in coming months, which build upon our existing payment infrastructure.

We will be happy to tell you more about this in a personal chat.

Golang Developer for PaaS MVP - Part-Time with Zweitag GmbH
Berlin, Germany
€50,000 to €70,000 a year

Job Description

We are looking for a Golang developer who helps us develop an MVP for a nice Infrastructure as Code project. The MVP consists of a command-line application and a REST API for managing AWS cloud infrastructure in Golang. The project is running only for a few weeks, so you’ll have the opportunity to contribute a cool project right from the start!

tl;dr

  • Develop a Golang command-line application and a REST API
  • Strong focus on internal and external software quality
  • Ambitious project context in the AWS cloud (Infrastructure as Code, High Availability, a high degree of automation)
  • For 10 to 16 hours per week
  • We speak English and German
  • AWS cloud / Infrastructure as Code / Part-time / Freelance

Project Background

We are developing the prototype of an innovative product for managing cloud infrastructure. It is all about running web applications in the AWS cloud in an easy-to-use, reliable, and automated way. Our users should be able to create and maintain the resources that they need without any external help. Behind the curtains, there is a framework that manages those resources in the AWS cloud with Terraform. This concept aligns with the Infrastructure-as-Code principle, which aims at providing documented and managed-like-source-code infrastructure definitions. We set a strong focus on economic factors, in that it should be viable to run both small and large applications and to scale those applications with high load and amount of users. The platform should be highly available and self-repairing – nobody should be on-call and responsible for fixing server deployments in the middle of the night. We have already validated a solution for creating and managing such an infrastructure, and we are in the process of bringing it to life.

The Task at Hand

The platform’s user interface is a command-line application which talks to the REST API, which we also develop. We want to implement these tools in Golang, and engineering has just started. We have a strong focus on software quality: in the end, we want to have a well-designed, robust software architecture with clear responsibilities and interfaces. The product should be automatically testable and maintainable for an extended period. An important factor will be integrating several data sources to deliver the right information to the user at the right time. The challenge lies in the heterogeneity and complexity of the data sources (for example, Terraform and AWS). It is also important to us that the product is intuitively usable: it should transform hosting infrastructure from a bothersome task to something fun. To achieve this, we want to gather user feedback and act on it iteratively.

Your Qualifications

You should have considerable experience with Golang and see yourself on an intermediate-to-senior level. In particular, you should engage with topics such as software architecture, testing on unit/integration/end-to-end level, and picking the right frameworks and libraries. You are also excited about clear software architecture and clean, well-maintainable code. We really care about this! ;) If you’ve got experience with infrastructure tools such as Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure – that’s a plus, but we don’t expect you to know everything. And you won’t have to dive deep into all those topics (depending on your personal preferences, of course). There are more bonus points if you know how to integrate 3rd party CLI apps in a stable and reliable way.

The Scenario

You’re living in Berlin, Potsdam, or somewhere nearby, and you have one to two days per week to spare. The project is sponsored by a company for digital products in Münster (Zweitag). However, there is no need to travel there because you work together with a team member who lives in Berlin. The current project is projected to take six months. If it all works out fine, we can see you being invited to work with us for longer. 🙂

Go Software Engineer with radio.de GmbH
Hamburg, Germany
€50,000 to €60,000 a year

Job Description

radio.net is an established startup with millions of users worldwide. For 10 years we have been the most successful radio app and website and now on the way to become the best podcast player. For this we need developers who want to find our product and our goals cool and want to move things in a great team.

You’ll get a steep learning curve in our backend team with 4 senior developers. We work with agile methods and modern, automated release processes and a good work-life balance.

The day-to-day tasks mainly include designing new features, developing in Go, and integrating with our deployment pipeline with gilab and AWS CloudFormation. Your loyal fans are the front-end teams who are looking forward to any new or improved API endpoint.

We work according to the principle “you build it you run it”. As we host on AWS, basically automating everything with CloudFormation and testing our releases very well, fortunately rarely gives a real problem and thus quiet nights.

You already have at least 2 years experience in software development with Java or Go and you are ready to develop yourself and your skills steadily. You’ve learned and sometimes used common best practices, design patterns and testing approaches.

Does that sound like a suitable challenge for you? Apply now via email to [email protected] or directly via Stackoverflow and we will make a phone call in the next step.

Software Engineer with Cash Payment Solutions GmbH
Berlin, Germany
€35,000 to €45,000 a year

Job Description

How do you design and implement an API that communicates with thousands of cash registers in all stores of REWE, Penny and real,-? How do you automatically transfer money between different banks?

Software Engineer (m/f/*)

At Barzahlen we operate Germany’s largest independent payment infrastructure. Customers can use different services in several supermarkets to e.g. pay their invoices and deposit or withdraw cash from their private bank accounts using smartphone apps.

In order to further develop our systems and to implement new projects we are looking for software engineers. It is important for us that the following applies to you:

  • You love coding! Software development is not just a job for you. You are coding on private projects as well and you are interested in the latest developments in the industry. You are fluent in at least one programming language.
  • In the future you want to program in Ruby and Go! It would be awesome, if you’ve already worked with these two languages in the past but in case you haven’t, that’s also no big deal: In our experience developers get productive in these languages very fast.
  • You are interested in the big picture! You want to know and understand how everything is connected, starting with our public APIs, over to our internal services and the PostgreSQL database. It’s your aspiration to ensure an error free operation of all our production systems through a mixture of code reviews, unit + integration tests and monitoring.

High requirements merit appropriate compensation. We are competing with other companies for your time and knowledge. So why should you decide to join us? Naturally this is quite hard to answer and depends on a lot of factors. Therefore we would be happy to answer all your questions regarding Barzahlen in a personal chat.

You can expect the following working for us:

  • Our office is located in the middle of Berlin and easily accessible using public transport. We will procure your preferred technical devices, so that you can code as productively as possible. We also offer flexible working hours and the possibility to develop yourself further not just in your work related area of expertise but other areas as well.
  • We have experts in the IT as well as in all other departments with excellent connections to other companies throughout Berlin and Germany. You can learn a lot of new things and experience how to build a “FinTech-Startup” from the ground up and to establish it in the market.
  • After creating a solid base of operations in Germany over the last 4 years we plan to realize several large projects in the coming months which build upon our existing payment infrastructure.

We will be happy to tell you more about this in a personal chat :)
