March 2021
5 Applicants This Week
More Than 6 Months Old
Job Description
Remote within USA (CA, CO, FL, GA, MA, NH, TX, VA, WA only)
Our mission is to build new economies by enabling our partners to compensate their content creators for the digital goods and services they produce. Here on the Ecom engineering team, we accomplish this by building a growing set of financial capabilities on top of our regulatory licenses. Some of these capabilities include processing payments and payouts, verifying user identities, detecting fraud and enforcing sanctions. Additionally, these systems have an expanding set of tools around them to be used by our partners and customers.
Basically, we write code that lets users sell digital hats in video games and get paid real money.
This position is for a Software Engineer on the Ecom team. The primary responsibility is to design and build the APIs that facilitate our capabilities. This is a fast-paced team and we are responsible for the full life cycle of our code. We break large systems down into component parts to be concurrently worked on, which requires that we be in lock step with each other. This means we highly value dependability and communication. We are iterative in nature, both as it applies to the code as well as our own processes. We build cool stuff, we weigh risk/reward, and when we make mistakes, we respond quickly and together and without blame. This is a team in the truest sense.
You will:
Take features through their entire lifecycle - design, implementation, test, documentation, deployment, production monitoring, outage response, and usage analysis
Design the API spec and implement it, to enable core business capabilities around payments, payouts, identity verification, fraud detection, sanction enforcement, and tooling
Communicate not just with the team, but also directly with our partners and vendors
Participate in our culture of continuous improvement to make both the tech and the team even better
Learn about and contribute to financial technology
You need:
Experience with Golang
Experience with SQL
Experience with UNIX/Linux
Broad exposure to common web technologies
Proficiency in scripting languages
The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
6 years of experience in web software engineering
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
What we use and teach:
Golang, MySQL, Python
Docker, Drone, Jenkins, Terraform
Automated testing, Continuous Integration and Deployment

Job Description
Proton
This role has no specific closing date
$120-160k plus equity and benefits
Boston, MA or Remote Considered
At Proton we're bringing cutting-edge technology to the world of business-to-business distribution. It's a large market that offers an enormous opportunity for growth. The industry we serve accounts for trillions of dollars of revenue a year. It's a huge chance to have an impact by shaking up an industry that's still waking up to the promise of technology. We have a chance to really transform the way a huge number of people work for the better, and bridge the gap between amazing software tools and human expertise.
By becoming the source of truth for our customers' data, we're helping them make better decisions and be more effective. We’re looking for a lead engineer for our data platform team to help make that vision a reality.
As a member of the data platform team, you'll build backend systems that unify, clean, and transform our customers' data. In addition, you’ll serve as the engineering leader for the team, helping your fellow team members deepen their expertise, effectively collaborate, and develop a technology vision. Together with the product team, you'll work to build scalable solutions to big problems. This position reports to our chief technology officer.
Our team codes in Python, JavaScript (using the Vue framework), and Go, with modern scalable document- and key-based data stores behind them. We prefer excellence to expediency. Backed by our microservice architecture, we want the best tool not the most convenient. If there’s a compelling case to write something in Clojure, we can and will do it. With strong foundations, specific knowledge of these tools is not required. As the driver of engineering on this team, you'll have a chance to define the technology vision for our order entry systems.
As an early member of the company, you’ll have a chance to shape how we grow, making key decisions around technical choices, and defining our culture. We're working to build a sustainable environment where excellence sits alongside a recognition we operate in a system and a need to nurture learning at all levels. Our growing corps of engineering leadership, including this role, should bring more expertise into that equation.
At Proton, we hire a little differently. Read about that and more on our engineering blog.
We'd be thrilled to have you apply. If you've read this far, but decided not to apply, we'd love to get your feedback on why--let us know at hiring@proton.ai.

FullStack Engineer FuzzBuzz San Francisco, United States $110,000 to $140,000 a year
May 2020
1 Applicants This Week
More Than 6 Months Old
Job Description
About Fuzzbuzz
We're Fuzzbuzz and we're building a fuzzing as a service platform that integrates into CI systems and the modern software testing workflow. Fuzzing is a type of automated testing that generates and runs thousands of inputs per second on your code to try and find bugs and vulnerabilities. It uses code coverage and other signals from your code to guide the tests it generates and runs. You can read more here.
Last year, we raised a $2.7M seed round from some of the best tech investors & founders, namely Y Combinator, Fuel Capital, Solomon Hykes (Docker founder), Flo Leibert (Mesosphere founder), Spencer Kimball (CockroachDB founder), Michael Stoppelman (Yelp ex-CTO).
About the Team
We're currently a team of 5 people and prefer staying small - allowing us to iterate faster and get very comfortable working with each other (the 3 founders have been roommates since first year university). That means you'll be 16% of the team - all of the work you do will be extremely critical and immediately impact users. We pride ourselves in being a very humble, but capable team - the 2 founding engineers each have 20+ years of engineering experience.
Since we are really small, we prefer having everyone working at the same location. We’re at 541 Jefferson Ave in Redwood City, CA - 10 mins from the Caltrain (everyone's currently WFH because of COVID-19. We will resume working from the office when it is safe).
Why Fuzzbuzz?
1. Define the DevOps and security standards of tomorrow
Fuzzing is seeing more widespread usage than ever before, but there is still work to be done before it sees mass adoption. We're uniquely positioned to bring fuzzing to the developer community and make software testing more effective than ever before.
2. Product-first culture with an emphasis on engineering
Working on a technical product means working with very technical people. We embrace technical challenges and take them head-on. We use tools/frameworks because they get the job done, not because they're the current flavor of the month.
3. Early stage, funded startup
By joining Fuzzbuzz at this critical early stage, as one of our first team members, you'll be shaping not only our product, but our company & engineering culture as well. We're well funded, and pay in the top 10% of companies in SF at our stage.
What You'll Be Doing
Design, architect and build the Fuzzbuzz platform (frontend & API)
Work with our designer to build a beautiful platform with a focus on simplicity
Work with fuzzing team to integrate fuzzing tooling into the platform
Work with founders to define product roadmap
Define internal engineering standards, tooling and processes
Work and iterate closely with users
What We're Looking For
2+ years experience as a full stack software engineer
Solid understanding of Typescript
Experience building complex SPAs in Angular or React (using TS)
Experience with or willingness to learn Go
Experience designing and building APIs
Experience working with AWS
Familiar with Linux
Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development
Obsession with users and providing real value to customers rather than working with “cool tech”
Ability to navigate & take ownership of complex problems from design through to final implementation
Benefits
Full health, dental & vision insurance
Caltrain & Parking covered
Unlimited, guilt-free PTO
Flexible hours
Ergonomic workstation (standing desk, Herman Miller chairs, custom monitor/laptop set up)

We’re building a team of not just strong problem-solvers, but great collaborators—engineers who are excited to teach and learn from each other, share decisions and information freely, and work together on new problems that no other companies have solved before. Come join the best people in the business.
As a Senior Security Engineer, you’ll...
Be a security subject matter expert and respond to any internal and external customer security engineering questions/requests
Support and advise software engineering teams in the design of secure software. Coach and mentor other engineers
Develop, implement, and communicate vulnerability mitigation strategies to development teams

Design, evangelize and implement security processes, technical controls, and architecture design patterns to enhance Lob's ability to prevent, detect, and analyze malicious activity
Participate in defining security-related end user features in the Lob product
Recommend and deploy tooling to manage security in the deployment pipeline as well as production systems
Balance security risk with business goals and agility
For this role, we’re looking for...
Proven interpersonal skills: Ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences. Collaborative approach to mentoring software engineers on the development of secure code
Broad exposure to various security disciplines (at least 2 of application security, infrastructure security, incident response, account security, and risk & compliance), and understanding of the core principles behind security concepts
Strong knowledge of web architecture, cloud and application architectures, and related security principles
Systematic problem solving approach, coupled with a strong sense of ownership and drive
Experience securing AWS based environments a plus, including security of different AWS Services, design of VPC architectures, best practices for IAM configuration and security of data within and across AWS accounts
Experience with NodeJS and Golang a plus: having opinionated approaches to preventing and detecting vulnerable code patterns at scale
Experience with Kubernetes and service mesh deployments a plus: CVE scanning, RBAC, mTLS, network security policies, pod security contexts, etc.

About Raven Black
What turns a minor skirmish into a major war? How does a natural disaster become a humanitarian crisis? Often, its poor decision-making caused by incomplete or inaccurate information that causes miscalculations, missed opportunities, and accidental escalations.
