About This Role

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and deployment of products that help companies communicate with their customers in deep and personal ways. We service over 30,000 API requests per second and our SDK is installed on over 2 billion devices around the world. We are a small team <15 engineers and our technology stack is built in Ruby on Rails, Scala, and Python, running on Cassandra, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, and Kafka. We containerize and deploy with Kubernetes on AWS.

Success in this role requires:

-5 or more years software development experience, preferably for a B2B SaaS product and/or in a successful startup environment. -Expert level familiarity with Ruby or Scala. -Experience with a broad range of tools, frameworks, and libraries; including one or more of Big Data and Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Service--Oriented Architectures, NoSQL (Cassandra, MongoDB), ElasticSearch, Kafka, and Distributed Computing. We're looking for a media focused systems engineer to join our growing engineering team. You'll work in an autonomous group that builds cloud-based services to power our entire media processing and delivery pipeline: the service at the very core of the Frame.io product. Some projects members of this team have built recently include:

• An HLS and Dash streaming video service, built using Cloudfront, Lambda@Edge and API Gateway.
• An on-the-fly watermarking system, encoding segments within Lambda functions.
• A PDF page extraction service, generating up-to 4k images per page of a PDF.

As a team we work with petabytes of data, hundreds of thousands of video encodes per day, and the challenges and demands that come from working at the very forefront of delivering Enterprise grade secure review experiences. Requirements

You will be a core member of this team - helping craft the vision for this product, building the underlying data models, APIs, and working with a cross-functional team to scale this to thousands of businesses. You will also be working with large data sets that Meter collects in order to provide valuable insights to our customers.

This role is based out of our San Francisco office. Our in-office days are Tuesday - Thursday.

You will have impact by:

• Making it easy for our customers to manage and observe their networks
• Helping Meter scale as it increases its hardware footprint
• Directly enabling your colleagues' productivity by building internal tools
• Influencing the roadmap of our software teams

You might be a good fit if you have:

• 4+ years professional software development experience
• Strong working knowledge of modern backend cloud ecosystem
• Strong understanding of designing APIs and modeling data
• Experience in building highly scalable architectures
• GoLang or Python development experience
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
• Networking experience

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows

• $120,000 – $242,000
• Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Meter's equity plan.

The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the Bay Area. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors such as your skills, qualifications and experience.
