The Role

We are on the lookout for a remote developer to join the team at Flyt.

Experience in Golang is essential and you must love being autonomous in a small team.

What you’ll be doing

Here’s what your day-to-day looks like:

  • To build new features in our core language Go
  • To work within our Microservices architecture and deliver highly level readable and maintainable code
  • To work with the world's largest delivery companies and to innovate in this exciting space
  • To make key architectural decisions and to help move our platform forwards
  • As part of your role, all Flyt Engineers and Operations staff, including Project Managers, will be required to be on-call at least once per quarter. Those on-call are required to be 'available' to receive alerts as and when a pre-defined threshold has been breached. All those who are required to be on-call will be trained and remunerated as per the FOC Policy.

You must have

  • Proven development experience in project environments
  • Experience working with teams across different time zones
  • Experience communicating in client facing roles as well as behind the scenes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • A passion and desire to contribute to high impact projects in a fast pace organisation

The hiring experience

Role

We seek a Senior Software Engineer to work in a team of 4 highly skilled software engineers consisting of front-end, back-end and DevOps professionals. Your Role at Teylor

We are looking for someone with senior-level experience building backend systems to join our team and help build our SaaS lending platform.

In this role you will work closely alongside our existing development team, Head of Lending Solutions and CTO to understand and implement financial software and features. You will build secure, high quality software, while also helping to define MVP approaches to expanding our SaaS platform internationally. You will be working on expanding our platform's feature set to cover use cases for a growing number of banks that rely on the Teylor Lending Cloud to digitise their entire lending operations.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Build and take ownership of components of the Teylor Lending Platform,
  • Write production-grade, robust and well-tested code, primarily in Go but with some Node.js/Typescript work as well,
  • Develop financial software and services,

We’re currently looking for Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to join our Platform team.

We’re looking for SREs who are software engineers at heart - you’re as comfortable writing software to solve problems as you are operating AWS or Kubernetes. If you’re a software engineer who has some good cloud infrastructure experience already, or you’re eager to get really familiar with systems, tooling and libraries, this could be the role for you.

As a team, we’re responsible for designing, building, and operating the services we consume from AWS, along with the software we run on top like Kubernetes, Cassandra, Prometheus, and Kafka. We’re also responsible for operating our three physical data centres, our network, and being on-call for the things we own and run.

To achieve this, we’re organised into three squads within the Platform Group; Infrastructure Platform, Storage Platform, and Backend Platform. Each squad is responsible for solving a specific set of problems for our customers and our engineers. We’re looking for engineers who are interested in joining our Infrastructure Platform or Storage Platform squads right now, but there are opportunities to move between them as you gain experience with our platform.

Currently, the IoT industry is lacking a common infrastructure to bring the 25+ billion IoT endpoints (that will be live by 2021) online. We plan to fix that.

At this phase of the product, you will be responsible for defining the initial architecture and at the same time executing the first version. You should be a strategic thinker, experienced and product-focused architect who is excited about the opportunity to get your hands dirty writing code. We’re cloud native, so you should enjoy working with containers, Kubernetes and Go!

You will work directly alongside the CEO and will act as both a technology and business expert, making decisions that will impact the current and future operations of the company.

We’re based in San Francisco and looking for a CTO in the Bay Area.

Responsibilities

  • Setting a vision for how technology will be used in the company by making foundational technical and architectural decisions.
  • Implementing the core set of services and cloud infrastructure based on product and business requirements.
  • Ensuring that the resourcing of talent, infrastructure and services meet the company's short and long-term needs.
  • Outlining the goals and milestones for research and development.
  • Creating timelines for the development and deployment of all technical services and components.
  • Making executive decisions on behalf of the company's technological requirements.
  • Manage contractors in non-core domains, such as embedded firmware and frontend development.
  • Managing technology budgets and time frames.

Requirements

  • 6+ years working in a technological role, 8 years preferred. You should have experience architecting distributed systems, deploying at-scale production services and have contributed meaningfully to open source projects.
  • Advanced understanding of cloud native technologies, such as containerization, virtualization, cloud networking & Kubernetes.
  • Experience deploying production services & infrastructure.
  • IoT, hardware and/or networking experience preferred but not required - you’ll learn a lot here!
  • Experience in Go preferred, or an interest to learn.
  • Experience interviewing and hiring engineers.

ENGINEERING TEAM

Our Engineering Team consists of over fifty Senior Engineers that are responsible for the end-to-end ownership of our platform, from architecture through to infrastructure. Individually they are all exceptional at what they do, but by working collaboratively within a team, consistently applying best-practice and automating absolutely everything they build world-class software for our customers.

There are a wide range of problems to tackle as an Engineer at Form3, from configuring nginx proxies to writing custom payment routing and handling logic. It’s very much a “best tool for the job” mentality here and our tech-stack is forever evolving. Our primary programming language is Go however we do have some services written using Java, Python and Ruby.
