We are looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to work closely with our product engineering and infrastructure teams. Reporting to the Director of Platform Systems, the Site Reliability Engineer will be performing a mix of hands-on development, coaching, and collaborating with other teams and stakeholders to help bring DigitalOcean’s engineering systems and culture up to the next level.

This is a key opportunity to make a significant impact in DigitalOcean’s engineering and operational systems and influence future product designs and requirements. This role is essential to accelerate the improvement of the high expectations our customers have of DigitalOcean as we continue to grow and expand.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Performing hands on technical work to directly improve the reliability, resiliency, and scaling of our key platform systems
• Working with stakeholders to develop and implement reliability and performance metrics
• Facilitate DigitalOcean’s culture of learning by providing insight and recommendations for improvement
• Coaching teams and individuals on reliability best practices and solutions
• Working with other SREs and engineering leaders to define the architectures and practices that should be adopted in order to deliver on our engineering and operational goals
• Establishing best practices for development, architecture, deployment, and operations
• Working with peer SREs to improve services and processes (including architecture reviews, incident response, monitoring) in a cross-functional manner throughout the engineering organization

What We’ll Expect From You:

• Distinguished track record as SRE (or similar role) with hands-on experience implementing reliability, process, and scaling solutions
• History of fostering positive relationships with stakeholders and a track record of successful collaboration and coaching

About This Role

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and deployment of products that help companies communicate with their customers in deep and personal ways. We service over 30,000 API requests per second and our SDK is installed on over 2 billion devices around the world. We are a small team <15 engineers and our technology stack is built in Ruby on Rails, Scala, and Python, running on Cassandra, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, and Kafka. We containerize and deploy with Kubernetes on AWS.

Success in this role requires:

Principal Software Engineer - Edge Data

You will be one of the first engineers working on a brand-new system that Fastly has been prototyping and is now beginning to operationalize. The system applies cutting-edge distributed systems theory — notably, CRDTs — to Fastly's global network to provide an infrastructure for state at the edge.

About the Role:

We are seeking Golang Engineers who are passionate about developing cutting-edge technology. In this role, you will be tasked with creating and implementing features such as Golang interpreters, libraries, developer tools, and utilities to power the Gnolang language. This is an opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking platform from its inception and help shape the future of smart contracts in the blockchain industry.

Basic Qualifications

• Exceptional proficiency in Golang, with a minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Proven experience with open-source projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously on complex problems.
• This role will be based in the United States.

Nice-to-Have

• Interest in or knowledge of computer science fundamentals, such as network, storage, OS, data structures, transpilers/compilers.
• Familiarity with concepts such as proof-of-stake, consensus algorithms, decentralized exchanges, public-key cryptography, and DeFi/Blockchain projects.
• Experience with Solidity and a solid understanding of Solidity/Ethereum concepts.
• Experience working with distributed teams and building distributed systems.

$179,000 - $200,000 a year
