What we’re building
PowerSpike is building the world’s first Influencer Exchange.
Like a traditional ad exchange, where buyers can place bids for ads in real-time, PowerSpike’s technology instead enables brands to bid on influencers. We’re taking the simple and streamlined experience of programmatic advertising, and combining it with the authenticity of influencer marketing to deliver instantly scalable influencer campaigns. Currently focused on the gaming space, our technology enables brands like Intuit Quickbooks and Activision Blizzard to launch influencer campaigns across our network of over 19,000+ Twitch streamers, just like they'd make a media buy.
Your work will directly help influencers pursue their dreams and assist some of the biggest brands in the world in streamlining their influencer marketing efforts.
What we need
We’re looking for a dedicated, passionate, innovative, and security-oriented Backend Web Developer to work on bringing PowerSpike’s databases and API’s to life. Reporting directly to the head of development, you will be responsible for building bug-free data solutions which will deliver information to influencers, brands and advertisers to help them make critical marketing decisions for their spends. Security at Monzo
Monzo’s security team has a wide range of responsibilities, from infrastructure security to application security. As a bank, we are solving diverse, novel problems to ensure that our customers are safe and secure.

Monzo works in project-based sprints in small, interdisciplinary teams
We have around 190 engineers out of roughly 1000 people in total - and we have big ambitions. As a security engineer here you'd be able to work directly with lots of teams across the company, and we run regular knowledge-sharing sessions so you’ll learn heaps about everything from how banks work to effective communication.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Your job is to help us build the tools that take the pain out of developing code in teams. Our lofty goal is to replace the venerable README file with a single command. You’ll work on command line clients, editor tooling, and more. While a primary amount of your job will be described as back-end work you must be comfortable with a little front-end work as well.
When not working on code, you’ll be meeting with your team to figure out priorities, features, technical issues, etc. You’re someone with good technical knowledge who also has an interest in the end-product you’ll be building.
Our day to day work practices are centered around GitHub, pull requests, code review, CI for testing, and agile development with Pivotal Tracker as our project management tool. We’re always looking to improve our practices and we expect you to help us to do so.
We’re a polyglot company and embrace using the best language for the given task at hand. You’ll regularly find Golang, Elm, Javascript, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, DCOS, CircleCI, and other modern tools. Quality is as important as speed. We’re building for the long run, so you’ll need to be proficient in writing tests and documentation too.
Our back ends and command line tools for interacting with our Platform are written in Go. While certain extended components of the platform that you might interact with from time to time are written in Elm and Python. We’re also aiming to get a foothold in TypeScript for future editor plugin work.
The team is scattered around the US and Canada, so we coordinate with each other and the rest of the company using Slack for chat, Highfive for video calls and screen sharing, Pivotal Tracker, and the Google Suite.

On the Nomad team, we develop tools for service deployment and batch job scheduling. Our customers place a high level of trust in us, relying on our tools to operate their own infrastructure and software effectively, and so we care deeply about reliability and performance.
This particular position is unique in that in addition to general Nomad backend engineering duties, this person will be the sole internal owner of the Nomad integration for Spark. We anticipate that work taking approximately 15-20% of this person’s time, and the rest of the time will be spent working on the overall Nomad roadmap along with the rest of the Nomad team. While we strive to hire at a variety of experience levels, this particular opening is not well-suited for recent graduates due to the level of independent ownership we expect for the integration for Spark. You will have the support of a Product and Engineering Manager in prioritizing and delivering work for the integration, but minimal fine-grained oversight from other Nomad Engineers. You will, however, benefit from direct interactions with users of the tool! Bee is a Swarm client implemented in Go. It’s the basic building block for the Swarm Network. Bee provides low level constructs for file storage, feeds, key-value stores and untraceable communication, through solid, well-tested code delivered in an agile manner.

Your role: This role expects the candidate to function as a large node operator, conducting testing and immersing themselves in the responsibilities of node operators.
