The Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) is looking for a talented, experienced, and hands-on engineer to assist partners with integrating into the Stellar network. In this role you’ll be designing, building, and implementing innovative blockchain solutions for our partners. You will lead the way in developing projects, from scoping & system design to development & best practice deployments. SDF’s partners span globally and are some of the most innovative software and financial companies.

What you’ll do:

• Be involved with all aspects of the software development process - from vision to final implementation.
• Design new platform functionality with the corresponding APIs for external developers.
• Build and maintain web services to support the foundation’s mission (creating equitable access to the global financial system).
• Identify patterns in developer needs and design new protocols and services to increase developer velocity across our entire ecosystem.
• Engage with our community of open source developers and partners on projects that encompass many different frameworks, languages, and ideas.
• Collaborate with the team on code review and design, and contribute to best practices for all of engineering at SDF.
• Investigate and refactor performance bottlenecks in order to continue scaling our API services.
• Provide assistance and guidance for our integration projects with our partners and other organizations on the Stellar network.
• Author detailed technical feature and protocol (RFC) specifications - we take design seriously, and we encourage everyone to be a part of our RFC processes.

Who you are:

• 5+ years real-world experience developing or implementing software within enterprise networks
• Solid understanding of web technologies: TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS, JSON, REST, etc
• Proficiency with programming languages such as JavaScript, Go, C++, Python, or similar
• Ability to lead technical discussions and explain technical details to non-technical people
• Independent and results driven. Skilled at working in an environment with dynamic objectives (maybe you even thrive on chaos)
• You’re a strong problem solver and fast learner
• You’re passionate about top quality code and using the latest best practices
• You build software with your users and their needs top of mind
• You’re a true partner advocate.

We are in the process of redefining our backend by re-architecting some of our core services as microservices. At the same time, we are integrating high throughput pipelines throughout our platform to enable rich insights for our data science and business intelligence teams. Are you a Backend Engineer who has excellent problem solving skills and loves technical challenges? Can you deliver under pressure, take initiative, work well as part of a team? If yes, then join us and participate in building an amazing product with international reach!

Currently, our remote team are only based between UTC+0 - UTC+3, so you’ll need to be located in that region too.

What you’ll do day in day out:

• Design, develop, manage, and support web services (Restful APIs)
• Work in an agile cross-functional team
• Rearchitecting our monolithic codebase to microservice-based architecture, by building microservices mainly written in Go
• Work on observability, kubernatization, CI/CD, automated testing and documentation of microservices
• Solve scalability and performance issues at an operating environment that constantly evolves and grows

What you need to have:

• Solid understanding of OOP and Design Patterns in at least one of the following languages: Go, PHP, Python, C#, Java or Kotlin, with more than 3 years of experience
• Solid understanding of HTTP and RESTful web service design, implementation and maintenance
• Familiarity with Service Oriented Architectures
• Experience with MVC development frameworks and cascading modularity
• Knowledge and experience (modeling and architecture) of SQL and relational databases (MySQL)
• Experience with Docker
• Solid experience with Software Testing
• Experience in version control (Git preferably)
• Problem solving, debugging & troubleshooting skills

• Experience in Agile Methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)

Our remote workforce works East Europe Timezone hours (10am - 6pm) and therefore we will need you to be located within UTC to UTC+3 to reasonably overlap with your team members’ work schedule. You always have the option to travel to our headquarters for meetings, events, and team bonding—or you can join virtually. Whatever works best for you and your work style.

What you’ll do day in day out:

• Design, develop, manage and support microservices and tools written in Golang.
• Solve scalability and performance issues on an operating environment that constantly evolves and grows.
• Debug and resolve issues and perform resolution follow ups.
• Participate in project planning including research and development.

What you need to have:

• Expert understanding of OOP and Design Patterns in one or more languages like: Go, PHP, Python, C#, Java or Kotlin, with more than 5 years of proven, production-grade software development expertise
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience with the design and implementation of large Go based production systems
• Good understanding of distributed systems and architecture
• Solid understanding of synchronous (HTTP, gRPC, etc.) and asynchronous communication (message oriented)
• Knowledge and experience (modelling and architecture) of SQL and relational databases (MySQL)
• Knowledge and experience of non-relational databases (one or more of MongoDB, Redis, ElasticSearch)
• Solid experience with Software Testing
• Experience in version control (Git preferably)

Senior Software Engineer, Platform - Go/Microservices

You’re a seasoned polyglot engineer that is driven, takes ownership and is solution oriented and ready to join a stellar new team working on cross product foundational platform, shared by all our products written in Go. You’ll be building robust and scalable software in multiple modern object oriented and functional languages. And making the company transitions to microservices using Go and Kafka.
