We have a great starting point: hundreds of thousands of active users that love the Organise product, a straightforward deployment process, and a big focus on great user experience. We have plans to ensure scalability while we grow as a team - pairing as much as we can, an agile approach to product development and dedicated time to evaluate and improve our processes.
We build most of our software in Ruby (mostly Rails) and React, use Postgres hosted on AWS RDS for our databases, and use Heroku to host most of our web applications.
As Lead Engineer you will:
Play a leading role shaping the culture and developer experience of the engineering team - building a team that has a deep commitment to delivering products that empower our users and improve working life for everyone
Work closely with our CTO and CEO to set priorities and direction for our product and infrastructure. You'll play a scrum master role for development of our network product - inspiring and setting clear direction for team members
Get to know (and work on) the entire product and infrastructure - you'll spend time with our campaign coaches and Organise users to see our product in action. Using Organise, Amazon drivers landed national media coverage, including an exclusive BBC Newsnight investigation, exposing their working conditions & calling on Amazon CEO to lower their parcel targets back to a safe level. Theyāve also met directly with MPs and got the Amazon CEO grilled in front of Parliament. 40% of drivers have had their targets lowered to a safer level now as a result - a huge win for their collective action.
Over 100,000 members pressured the government to abandon their plans to scrap the laws protecting paid holidays and rest breaks (working time directive) - including sending tens of thousands of messages sent directly to the Business Secretary in the 24 hours leading up to the U-turn. Civil servants tell us (off the record) that the department were āastonishedā by the level of public backlash to the plans.
Dan*, a Census worker, started a campaign when he noticed Census temporary workers were being asked to travel to attend their first-day induction without being offered to have their travel expenses covered. We are seeking a hands-on Head of Engineering for our well funded e-commerce fulfillment startup

Exciting times in e-commerce: E-commerce sales in Europe is projected to be Ā£406 billion by 2023, expected to grow 8% per year between 2018-2023. The growth is driven by consumers that increasingly buy more online as well as the emergence of small and medium e-commerce sellers, which have grown at 18% and 28% per year, respectively between 2009-2017. There are 200,000 small and medium e-commerce sellers in the UK alone, selling their products through multiple channels, including marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay, their own websites, and on social media like Facebook and Instagram. Today, these small and medium sellers are ignored by the large incumbent logistics service providers and we are on a mission to change that.
Building a next generation Fulfillment-as-a-Service platform: With this explosive growth in e-commerce, the demand for e-commerce fulfilment and delivery is booming. Bezos is a next generation Fulfillment-as-a-Service (FaaS) platform, that allows small and medium e-commerce sellers to outsource their storage, fulfilment, delivery, and returns and focus on what is more important: growing their businesses. Bezosā operational model is based on partnering with certified logistics suppliers that will execute the different services on our behalf. We believe there is a massive market opportunity to serve these currently unattended and fast growing small and medium e-commerce sellers. We believe that the e-commerce logistics landscape will give place to significant disruption opportunities, and we are planning on taking a leading role to achieve them.
Two founders with proven track records: The founding team consists of Diego Lijtmaer and Vernon Tjon-Soei-Len, who are two seasoned technology executives with experience in e-commerce, the gig economy and last mile delivery industry. Diego built the business development and logistics functions at Just Eat Plc (food delivery, FTSE 100), founded and ran a hospitality business Bacanal and worked in investment banking at UBS (LinkedIn profile here). Vernon was the Director of Amazon Flex UK (part of Amazonās Last Mile Product & Technology team) and part of the Senior Leadership Team of Amazon Logistics UK, and prior to that worked at Zipcar, Bain & Company and JPMorgan (LinkedIn profile here).

Our solutions allow merchants to route dynamically a transaction to the best payment provider to optimise their conversion rate. Your main task will be to design and create or maintain micro-services within our infrastructure. Our product handles millions of transactions within a week. The API has its key part on it but the load is also on a multitude of other services.
You will work closely with our technical teams to learn about the possible technical bottle-necks. We have implemented different technologies such as Go (go-kit toolkit, gRPCā¦), Kubernetes, AWS, PostgreSQL and many others. TreeCard is building the leading green finance brand. Weāre powered by Ecosia, the search engine that plants trees with 15M monthly active users.
Our first product, TreeCard, is a free top-up debit card that puts 80% of profits directly towards responsible reforestation investments. Weāve signed up over 100,000 users to our waiting list in the first month since announcement (breaking all of Revolut, Monzo and Curve's launch records). Our product sticks, with 40% of all sign ups being referred by a friend or family. Weāre planning to launch in Q1 of 2021.

Lead Backend Engineer
We are looking for an engineer to help us build out the backend that powers TreeCard.
You will be responsible for developing the backend platform from scratch, spanning a range of the tech stack, from integrating with our banking partners, to API architecture and design for our mobile client, to the execution of new microservices that the business will depend on like risk management, fraud detection, and big data analytics.

Our Software Engineering Team is 100% remote and distributed across 20+ European countries. THE ROLE
At Form3 you will have the opportunity to design, develop and deploy backend cloud-native services within a containerised microservices architecture. The work is cutting edge, constantly changing and focused on building and operating critical, highly available, low latency, scalable solutions.
Play an active role in introducing new technologies and ways of working to stay ahead of the competition, without ever compromising on quality. Contribute and collaborate with other engineers on technical and architectural decisions. Enjoy end-to-end ownership from concept to deployment, including building and operating infrastructure, toolset and deployment pipelines. Develop your skills, work on cool projects with the latest tech, all whilst working with a talented, diverse and friendly group of people

Experience in designing and building distributed systems

Back End Engineering is a key role within Thought Machine as Back End Engineers lead the development of Thought Machineās Vault product. We pride ourselves in excellence in this role, adopting the best practices in continuous deployment monorepo style development.
While development at Thought Machine is fast paced, you will be expected to develop code to a high standard and production ready state.
DUTIES
Designing, implementing and developing scalable, performant microservices using best practices.
Writing automated unit tests, integration tests, etc.
Interfacing with other engineering teams to ensure that features are added in a structured and coherent way.
Managing and debugging your deployments from testing environments all the way to production.
Translating customer requirements into trackable tickets.
Requirements
Essential:
Experience in either Python or Golang.
Experience in developing automated tests as an integral part of the development cycle.
Interest in working on client-facing projects, conducting scoping and defining deliverables.
Desirable:
Knowledge of banking / finance.
Experience with AWS or other cloud providers.
Familiar with databases (SQL or noSQL).
Experience with client/server software architectures & networking, or microservice architectures.
Experience using orchestration tools such as Kubernetes or Mesos.
