As a key member of our foundational engineering team of eight, you will be architecting, estimating, developing, and testing new features and improvements using an agile development approach. You will be working directly with the founders of the company, who are experienced developers with a proven track record in SaaS.
You will be working on greenfield Go microservices that will build on, and over time, replace, our monolithic CakePHP app. You’ll be working with bleeding edge technology including Go, Docker, Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, Terraform, Github, and AWS.
Clean code, collaboration, iterative development, rapid releases, and continuous improvement form the culture of our engineering team. We prioritize team velocity over individual performance. Okta's Developer Experience team is looking for an experienced engineer with a love for the Go language, and a desire to work on open source SDKs that will delight our developer community. In this role you will have influence over our Go community strategy, which has a large base of developers working in the Dev Ops arena. Developers building on Okta want tools, written in Go, to facilitate their roll out of applications that leverage Okta as the underlying identity platform.
We currently offer a Go Management SDK, and a Terraform provider. In this role you will have ownership over these SDKs, as well as future SDKs that we create.
Okta's identity platform allows developers at companies of all sizes to integrate modern authentication features and workflows into their own applications. The Developer Experience team is responsible for sharing the love with those developers by identifying common use cases and creating tools and SDKs that make their lives easier, while helping them understand our product and the protocols that we support.
In this role you will be working on the leading edge of our Open Source Software (OSS) program and will gain invaluable experience with library design and development, as well as interacting with a community of engaged developers who use your work on a daily basis. Your code will see production scale usage at many companies, being embedded directly into applications and services that enable internet scale applications with large numbers of end users. We are looking for Senior Software Developers who want to help build the next generation payment API in the cloud.
We'd like to hear from enthusiastic polyglot developers who want to work with the latest technologies, solve interesting problems and be part of a really great team. There are a wide range of problems to tackle, from configuring nginx proxies to writing custom payment routing and handling logic, and we contribute open source back to the community. We believe that the language you write the code in is just how you convey your solution to the computer and the real value is being able to think through a problem.
You will be working on new development projects, focused on best practice across the board, including automation of absolutely everything (Terraform for infrastructure deployments to AWS, CI/CD with contract-based testing and auto-deployment of services within Docker containers, etc.), pair programming and TDD/BDD. Although many of us live around London, we are operating as a remote team, and typically working from home and pair programming.
It’s very much a “best tool for the job” mentality at Form3 and our tech-stack is always evolving but to give you a flavour of what we’re currently working with here are some of the tools we use;

The Challenge
The DevOps team is tasked with ensuring the reliability and security of our exponentially scaling platform, while serving as a force multiplier for the rest of the engineering organization. Other teams rely upon our expert guidance to design a product that earns the trust of our users, without slowing down the pace of development. We believe that automation and developer empowerment are the key to creating systems that are reliable and secure by default, while minimizing cycle times. We use a collection of SaaS, open source, and proprietary technologies; whichever provides the right solution and seamless integrations for that piece of the puzzle. Some of the key technologies we leverage include Docker (for code packaging and deployment), Kubernetes (for container orchestration), Ansible (for lightweight config management), and Terraform (to control our cloud infrastructure).
