About the role

As a senior software engineer, you will work closely with the CTO, be a critical part of our core team, and have a huge influence over the direction of the company. You will lead projects and work with cross functional teammates to design and implement systems like our API, notifications service, and authentication service while focusing on scalability and performance. Okta's Developer Experience team is looking for an experienced engineer with a love for the Go language, and a desire to work on open source SDKs that will delight our developer community. In this role you will have influence over our Go community strategy, which has a large base of developers working in the Dev Ops arena. Developers building on Okta want tools, written in Go, to facilitate their roll out of applications that leverage Okta as the underlying identity platform.

We currently offer a Go Management SDK, and a Terraform provider. In this role you will have ownership over these SDKs, as well as future SDKs that we create.

Okta's identity platform allows developers at companies of all sizes to integrate modern authentication features and workflows into their own applications. The Developer Experience team is responsible for sharing the love with those developers by identifying common use cases and creating tools and SDKs that make their lives easier, while helping them understand our product and the protocols that we support.

• Establishing best practices for development, architecture, deployment, and operations
• Working with peer SREs to improve services and processes (including architecture reviews, incident response, monitoring) in a cross-functional manner throughout the engineering organization

What We’ll Expect From You:

• Distinguished track record as SRE (or similar role) with hands-on experience implementing reliability, process, and scaling solutions
• History of fostering positive relationships with stakeholders and a track record of successful collaboration and coaching
• Clear communication skills (both written and verbal) to document processes and architectures
• Experience implementing disaster recovery best practices
• Developing robust solutions that facilitate streamlined resolution of customer inquiries through use of technologies for automation, deflection, and issue management
• Adept in Ruby and Go with a broad understanding of the full technology stack for a modern infrastructure
• Advocate of effective development environments with the use of CI/CD tooling and configuration management technologies such as Chef or Ansible
