Normally, as a new starter, you'd come to the office for a few weeks to get to know each other. We see this as an interesting challenge so we’re working it out at the moment. Okta's Developer Experience team is looking for an experienced engineer with a love for the Go language, and a desire to work on open source SDKs that will delight our developer community. In this role you will have influence over our Go community strategy, which has a large base of developers working in the Dev Ops arena. Developers building on Okta want tools, written in Go, to facilitate their roll out of applications that leverage Okta as the underlying identity platform.
We currently offer a Go Management SDK, and a Terraform provider. In this role you will have ownership over these SDKs, as well as future SDKs that we create.

Your job is to help us build the tools that take the pain out of developing code in teams. Our lofty goal is to replace the venerable README file with a single command. You’ll regularly find Golang, Elm, Javascript, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, DCOS, CircleCI, and other modern tools. Quality is as important as speed. Our back ends and command line tools for interacting with our Platform are written in Go. While certain extended components of the platform that you might interact with from time to time are written in Elm and Python. We’re also aiming to get a foothold in TypeScript for future editor plugin work.

We are looking for a Platform Engineer 🤖 to work in our new developer experience department in the deployment team. We want to build an amazing Internal Developer Platform. In order to achieve that goal, we want to give time and space to a group of people that are very passionate about how an elite software development team works and wants to help to optimize our team’s workflow. We want all teams to be able to self-service their needs without the need to put a ticket on any board when they need something.

In three months…
You should start to understand the different processes that happen across our company within the other teams. You should already be part of the deployment team’s vision. You should be participating in your team’s ceremonies. Each team has its own working agreements, as long as they are aligned within the company. Currently, your team is working according to the Kanban philosophy with periodic retrospectives.
In six months…
As you begin to understand the department's long term vision you should start participating in some design discussions and even the recruitment of the team. You should already know some of our engineers so you can engage in discussions with them to find out their pain points in terms of our pipeline building and help them solve them.
