As for the tech we use: the best tool is the right tool. Go and React are our bread and butter but nothing is stopping you from reaching for something else if it does it better. We deploy to Kubernetes across both AWS and GCP with some help from Terraform. We run a mature event sourced microservice architecture using Kafka, NATS and GRPC. As much as is possible we code in the open on GitHub. If it can be open- sourced, it shall. If we can submit a PR instead of building our own, we will. Getting your hands dirty from the top to the bottom of the stack isn’t a promise to be broken, it’s a requirement. If you’re only good at parts of it that’s okay, we’ll quickly make you good at all of it.

The Partner Experience squad is responsible for providing digital tools that help partners be more successful. The primary goal of the partner experience team is to increase the size of UW’s customer base by creating a well informed and highly motivated network. Using gamification techniques, the team delivers innovate tools covering and supporting the entire partner lifecycle from recruitment over on-boarding to enduring self-service business management to provoke continuous activity throughout the network.
The Energy squad is responsible for providing the systems that allow UW to integrate with the energy industry and function as a large Energy supplier; the frontend systems that allow our operational staff to manage the UW energy supply base and the systems to provide information and accurate energy billing to our customers. The team’s primary goals are to improve the operational efficiency of the operations and customer services teams by providing innovative and simple to use software solutions; ensure business continuity as a supplier by providing robust industry integration and regulatory compliant systems and build the platforms to allow UW to become an innovator for customer offerings in the Energy supply market.
The Insurance squad is responsible for the delivery of enhanced P&L through the successful growth of our new insurance business unit. The team owns the lifecycles of the insurance policies and manages any industry interactions, API integrations that are required to orchestrate this. Tackle convoluted problems and develop clean, stable solutions that scale. The ideal candidate would be someone who has a genuine passion for designing and implementing elegant software solutions. Hunter's product team is hiring a Backend Go developer! You'll become one of the key team members responsible for moving the data side of the Hunter application forward.
We love working as a small team and don't hire frequently. So this is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the team. You'll be part of the product team alongside Bastien (head of engineering), Bernardo (Backend Go developer), Mark (Ruby on Rails developer), Chris (Designer), François, and Antoine (co-founders).

Techcyte develops products using computer vision and deep learning to automate microscopy for laboratory testing for healthcare, veterinary services, and environmental testing. Your job is to help us build the tools that take the pain out of developing code in teams. Our lofty goal is to replace the venerable README file with a single command. You’ll work on command line clients, editor tooling, and more. While a primary amount of your job will be described as back-end work you must be comfortable with a little front-end work as well.
When not working on code, you’ll be meeting with your team to figure out priorities, features, technical issues, etc. You’re someone with good technical knowledge who also has an interest in the end-product you’ll be building.
Our day to day work practices are centered around GitHub, pull requests, code review, CI for testing, and agile development with Pivotal Tracker as our project management tool. We’re always looking to improve our practices and we expect you to help us to do so.
We’re a polyglot company and embrace using the best language for the given task at hand. You’ll regularly find Golang, Elm, Javascript, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, DCOS, CircleCI, and other modern tools. Quality is as important as speed. We’re building for the long run, so you’ll need to be proficient in writing tests and documentation too.
Our back ends and command line tools for interacting with our Platform are written in Go. While certain extended components of the platform that you might interact with from time to time are written in Elm and Python. We’re also aiming to get a foothold in TypeScript for future editor plugin work.
The team is scattered around the US and Canada, so we coordinate with each other and the rest of the company using Slack for chat, Highfive for video calls and screen sharing, Pivotal Tracker, and the Google Suite.
