As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll work within the software development team, supporting them on the early stages of a Greenfield project that involves advanced monitoring, machine learning and predictive analysis software for the financial services sector. Our UK office is relatively new, and so the ability to develop and be creative with new products is what makes this role unique. Your role will involve development, system administration, quality assurance and support. Our solutions allow merchants to route dynamically a transaction to the best payment provider to optimise their conversion rate. Your main task will be to design and create or maintain micro-services within our infrastructure. Our product handles millions of transactions within a week. The API has its key part on it but the load is also on a multitude of other services.

You will work closely with our technical teams to learn about the possible technical bottle-necks. We have implemented different technologies such as Go (go-kit toolkit, gRPC…), Kubernetes, AWS, PostgreSQL and many others. About The Role

Our mission is simple: take our leading product and transform it into a global SaaS product. Working in a small team of developers you'll be evolving our platform and infrastructure by developing microservices, creating tools, building APIs, writing tests, integrating systems and utilising AWS cutting-edge features to enhance the platform experience for a global user base.

You will need to hit the ground running in getting a measure of our platform and service architecture with support from our Product & Engineering teams and solutions architects. You will be working across teams to not only deliver code, but also to take a leading role in the design of services and implementations. You will understand the value of an MVP and know how to efficiently scale back functionality to meet user impact or time-bound requirements whilst maintaining stability.

On a day to day basis you will:

• Work with other senior engineers to architect and design backend software to meet the needs of the business
• Work closely with front-end engineers, data engineers, product managers, UX and DevOps - We work in small super-focussed cross functional teams who take ownership on a specific product features
• You’ll be creating new Golang microservices, adding features and fixing bugs on our existing microservices
• Perform fair and considered peer code reviews,
• Writing bucket loads of good quality, testable code (and tests)

Requirements

About You

You'll need to have:

• Proven track record architecting and delivering Go projects to a high standard
• Experience in not only writing microservices from scratch but also in understanding and developing existing services against a roadmap
• Building high performance, scalable services using protocol buffers/gPRC
• Experience writing test suites, specifically unit and integration tests
• An excellent communicator

Tech background:

• Docker
• Kubernetes
• AWS
• Git
• Microservices via gRPC and event-driven architecture
• MySQL, noSQL, Postgres
• Experience with TDD, Unit, functional and E2E testing
• Continuous integration/deployment
• Self-driven, quality controlled

• Experience with Terraform or any Infrastructure as Code toolkit
• React.js/Node.js/Typescript

• A track record using Go in Open Source projects

Our ideal candidate has:

• Expert knowledge of working in cloud-based infrastructure (AWS)
• Experience using containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos)
• Expert knowledge of auto scaling, load balancers, proxy servers, DNS, CDNs and WAFs
• Capable of architecting security and compliance best practices into global cloud infrastructure
• At ease troubleshooting in complex environments using monitoring and logging tools (such as New Relic, Datadog, Graylog and Kibana)
• Knowledge of Ansible, Terraform & Go.
• Experience with build tools (e.g. Jenkins, CircleCI), and artifact repositories (e.g. Quay.io),
• Experience working with RDBMS (e.g. PostgreSQL)
• Knowledge of using distributed stream processing platforms specifically Apache Kafka
• Experience in requirements identification, solution analysis, and product selection
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
