About the role

As a senior software engineer, you will work closely with the CTO, be a critical part of our core team, and have a huge influence over the direction of the company. You will lead projects and work with cross functional teammates to design and implement systems like our API, notifications service, and authentication service while focusing on scalability and performance. We will compensate you well, invest deeply in your development, and do everything we can to make sure this is the single best work experience of your life.

What you'll do

• You'll ship. You'll be working on the core product to engineer solutions across multiple modules including payments, messaging, and file-sharing. Whether it's fixing a bug or architecting a new feature, you'll move fast.

• Experience developing distributed systems, microservices, and REST APIs (including using them as integration points with third-party applications) in a variety of programming languages.
• Experience using one of the public cloud providers (AWS, GCP or Azure) with CI/CD pipelines (Travis/CircleCI) to build, test and deploy.
• Willingness to mentor junior members of the team.

• Feature implementation through both individual contributions and providing guidance in terms of organization, process and design.

• We use the scrum framework.

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate annual compensation range for this role is $140,000-$180,000, including base salary and any related bonuses or commissions. We have a need for a Software Developer to focus on building out new platform services. You will work on a team developing the next generation of core platform capabilities for Acronis, powering the transformation to a Cyber Protection Platform. Our team primarily develops new or generalizes existing applications relevant to core functionality to enable our wide range of applications and integrations.

For this position, we are looking for somebody who either has or is able to quickly demonstrate abilities with some or all of the following technologies:

Golang: all of our new service development is done in Golang.
PostgreSQL: we make heavy use of databases, and we use PostgreSQL primarily.- Kubernetes/Docker/CI Pipelines/MAKE/shell
Operating Systems and User-Machine Software: Acronis interacts heavily with client machines, experience with non-web-service software development, particularly user applications in Windows and Linux.
HTTP APIs: we need people who understand HTTP APIs from verbs to oauth to TLS, as well as familiarity with nginx, DNS and other key application-level technologies.
Python, C#, Java: this will get you bonus points or would be considered in place of Golang, in conjunction with existing basic fluency in Golang and strong skills in SQL and other key areas listed here.

Additional technologies which successful applicant should be able to quickly develop and display competency:

GraphQL: For schema aggregation and presentation usage.
WebSockets/gRPC: Event reactive frontend architectures.

About the opportunity

This role falls in our Delivery Experience team, a newly formed small team for making our hardware as a service model a delightful customer experience. We build the software to ensure customers have cameras installed in optimal locations and any maintenance is a positive touchpoint.

Some challenges you’ll tackle

• Own features across the entire stack: backend, frontend, data stores – the whole shebang (#!)
• Build internal workflows to manage our fleet of cameras at scale - We process over 20M images daily in real time
• Collaborate with Machine Learning and Hardware teams on multifaceted projects
• Work directly with Product to understand user needs and scope solutions
• Assess new technologies as needed for a task and make decisions balancing technical need and business impact

If you noticed, the above list says very little about specific coding skills. We believe the right person for this role is much more than a great engineer. But to get into the nitty gritty, currently our stack looks like:

• Typescript (Node) web services with a bit of Scala and Go (Golang) in there as well as needed
• React on the frontend, but also some mix of plain ole HTML, CSS (bootstrap), and Javascript (jQuery + KnockoutJS) as needed
• Swift(iOS) or Kotlin(Android) for mobile apps
• Postgres DB, but occasionally Redis or DynamoDB (use the right tool for the job)

RackTop develops innovative products that are revolutionizing the data storage industry by combining high-performance network attached storage with advanced security to solve the most difficult compliance and cyber security challenges facing the modern enterprise. Swish is a world-class development studio which teams have delivered products for Google, Microsoft, Kik, Nasdaq, Factset, and other major enterprises. The blockchain engineering team at Swish is looking for talented protocol level engineers to design and implement core protocol features (like sharding, multi-chain architecture, two-way pegs, zk-Starks, zk-Snarks, and state channels) for new blockchains. Our mission is to bring the promise of a decentralized blockchain-based future to reality for clients.

As a blockchain engineer, you will work on protocol level infrastructure for blockchains. We acknowledge that the blockchain space is in its infancy. Prior experience with blockchain development is required but we are flexible as to which paths you’ve taken to get it.  You should have prior experience developing high quality server and blockchain architecture and be excited about doing that at a studio that is transforming the way companies run their businesses.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about being at the forefront of a new technological paradigm and can lead the design and development of scalable applications. A successful candidate will bring deep analytical ability, a security-first mindset, and the ability to deliver results within a fast-moving, agile environment.

We are also looking for: • Strong communication skills • Experience with measuring and improving server response times in different conditions and environments. • Experience with unit and integration testing, continuous integration, and deployment workflows.

Requirements

• 1+ years experience with Golang or C++ • 4+ years of experience in a backend engineering role • Experience with distributed systems • Familiarity with a modern web development framework such as Python (Django/Flask), Ruby (Rails), or Javascript (React/Flux) • Comfortable operating in dynamic environments
