Ukama design and implement 4G/5G cloud-native cellular infrastructure (hardware, stack and core) with cloud management and interconnect, basically it means a lot of fun work! We run a complete shop; we design and manufacture the hardware, write the software for hardware, build services in the cloud and then deploy the solution with our partners and customers in the field.

And yes, we love open-source; 100% of our hardware and a significant portion of our software will be open-source!

The Role

Senior Software Engineers play a key role in our product engineering squads. You’ll be responsible for helping design, develop and maintain our communication products and related services. This will enable our customers to send out millions of SMS messages per day; place voice calls via our REST API; gain real-time insights using our Dashboard; and reach out to consumers via IM platforms like WhatsApp. 

Our product engineering squads have the freedom and authority to create impactful products to empower both our internal and external customers. We are looking for a Platform Engineer 🤖 to work in our new developer experience department in the deployment team. We want to build an amazing Internal Developer Platform. In order to achieve that goal, we want to give time and space to a group of people that are very passionate about how an elite software development team works and wants to help to optimize our team’s workflow. We want all teams to be able to self-service their needs without the need to put a ticket on any board when they need something.

What will I be doing? 🤔

In your first month…

You will be assigned to an onboarding buddy who will help you make yourself at home at Stuart. You will start meeting people from all departments to learn more about what we do and start to understand the general principles that are driving our architecture. You should get in touch with how we are deploying our software today and where we want to go in the future.You will be paired with some teammates to start delivering your first code.

In three months…

You should start to understand the different processes that happen across our company within the other teams. You should already be part of the deployment team’s vision. You should be participating in your team’s ceremonies. Each team has its own working agreements, as long as they are aligned within the company. Currently, your team is working according to the Kanban philosophy with periodic retrospectives.

In six months…

As you begin to understand the department's long term vision you should start participating in some design discussions and even the recruitment of the team. You should already know some of our engineers so you can engage in discussions with them to find out their pain points in terms of our pipeline building and help them solve them.

You will be joining engineering team of Teleport, unified access plane for SSH, Kubernetes and Database infrastructure.

Teleport is an open source project, written in Golang with web-based UIs in JavaScript with React.

• Building backend integrations with cloud provider's managed databases.

What will I do?

• You will develop backend with Golang / Go. • You will build a real-time system in the Cloud that connects different software solutions with multiple devices. • You will work in a team that develops Go in the back and Angular in the front.

How will I do it?

• You will work in a cross-functional agile team and you will be involved in the entire development process. • You will work hand in hand with a team of highly specialized technicians. • You will have access to the company's central platform and multiple applications in the cloud. • You will have a PC and all the necessary software licenses with a computer support team at your disposal.

Minimum requirements

• Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or related technical discipline. • Minimum of 4-5 years of Golang experience. • Strong development fundamentals, including object-oriented design and data structures. • Experience in creating software solutions that take advantage of AWS services (S3, EC2, SNS, SQS, API Gateway, DynamoDB…). • Experience in developing microservices in the cloud and RESTful API. • Experience with non-relational databases. • Knowledge and experience in the application of code quality principles and practices. • Experience in using TDD (test-based development). • Experience with source code control software, such as git, and continuous integration / deployment systems, such as Jenkins. • High English (spoken and written). • Proactive, agile, progressively autonomous, communicative and empathetic person.
