The Beats platform is the basis for building open source shippers that collect all kinds of operational data, store it in Elasticsearch, and visualize it with Kibana. We currently have five official Beats: Filebeat for gathering logs, Packetbeat for network traffic, Metricbeat for metrics, Winlogbeat for Windows event logs, Heartbeat for uptime monitoring, and Auditbeat for audit data. In addition, the open-source community has created over 40 Beats, collecting data from all sorts of sources.

All current Beats are written in Golang.

As part of the Beats team, you will be responsible for maintaining the official Beats, for creating new ones, as well as for supporting the community around Beats. The team is diverse and distributed across the world, and collaborates on daily basis over Github, Zoom, and Slack.

  • Write open source Golang code for maintaining different Beats.
  • Dive into new technologies and figure out how to best monitor them.
  • Define and create new Beats.
  • Work with our support team to help customers.
  • Answer community questions.
  • Collaborate with other development teams, quality engineering team and documentation team to execute on product deliverables.

Skills you will bring along

  • BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science or related engineering discipline and 3+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience creating system level software on Unix and/or Windows platforms. Windows programming experience would be great to have.
  • Experience in Golang programming is a big plus, but not strictly required. Our team can teach you and get you up to speed.
  • Strong experience having worked with C/C++ or other low level programming languages.
  • Operational experience with monitoring systems would be very welcome.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a great teammate with strong analytical, problem solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work in a distributed team throughout the world.
  • Knowledge and experience in Elasticsearch, Logstash, Distributed Systems is a plus.

We are seeking a skilled Staff Software Developer to join our team. This role is open in our Amsterdam office (relocation is possible), or remotely (EU or UK-based).

You'll focus on one of the most used Products: Chat, as well as the brand new Video & Audio API.

Responsibilities

  • Add new features to the service and find ways to make the existing ones perform orders of magnitude faster.

  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
  • Design and write state-of-the-art software, follow best practices, measure everything and be responsible for deployment to production.

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer II who is familiar with cloud platforms, container technology and loves automation. As the first dedicated hire supporting cloud infrastructure, internal tooling and automation you will have an impact on how we operate all our systems and services. In this role you will help build and maintain cloud infrastructure for our tools and products as well as assist with customer deployments ensuring we are following best practices and industry standards. You'll directly contribute to the success of our new hosted product by serving a hybrid DevOps / SRE function. This role will participate in our on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • 3+ years as a software engineer, DevOps engineer, cloud engineer, site reliability engineer or systems administrator
  • Demonstrable experience administering AWS, especially VPCs, Lambda, RDS, S3 and IAM Roles & Policies
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IAC) using Terraform
  • Excellent understanding of Docker & container technologies
  • Hands on experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible
  • Demonstrable understanding of modern software development practices including pair programming, peer reviews, Git-based workflows, continuous integration and delivery, and automated testing
  • Comfortable with Bash and Python
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and services (DataDog)

In compliance with New York City Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role, adjusted for level, is between $140,000 - $190,000 in New York City. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors including level, skillset, experience, job scope, location, and current market data. About you

  • You’re a software engineer with years of experience and a deep understanding of software engineering practices.

About the role

You’ll work in one of our cross-functional product squads, helping the team achieve their goals - whether that’s building a new service in our backend platform, creating a new version of an existing API to deliver a new feature, or creating a CLI tool to automate something.

We work in a highly collaborative fashion, and maintain an open and transparent work environment. Engineers at Cuvva don’t just write code or implement against a spec. You’ll be expected and encouraged to take part in the entire product development process from problem-discovery to solution design, to implementation and rollout.

Each product squad autonomously owns an area of the Cuvva product. Squads are made up of engineers from multiple disciplines (backend, web, iOS, Android), product and content designers, and a product manager. Engineers at Cuvva come from a variety of backgrounds and have different but complementary skill sets. We don’t require a computer science degree - many of us are self-taught.

Our approach

We value consistently-written, simple, resilient systems. Our backend is made up of many standalone services with a JSON-based RPC interface. We aim to create a client-agnostic API design suitable for a variety of clients (mobile apps, website, internal tooling, 3rd parties). Because we’re a regulated financial company, we have interesting and rigorous requirements to meet with regards to data security and auditability.

Most systems are written in Go (some older ones are Javascript), backed by either Postgres or Mongo, and are hosted in a container environment. We heavily lean on AWS tooling such as S3, Lambda, and SQS, and we occasionally build integrations with more “legacy” 3rd party systems in the insurance industry.

You'll do great here if you:

• Have genuine interest and curiosity about the Cuvva product, and consumer insurance in general

• Enjoy working as a team to solve problems collaboratively

• Have around 5 years of experience building rock-solid backend systems and APIs

What we’re building

PowerSpike is building the world’s first Influencer Exchange.

Like a traditional ad exchange, where buyers can place bids for ads in real-time, PowerSpike’s technology instead enables brands to bid on influencers. What we need

We’re looking for a dedicated, passionate, innovative, and security-oriented Backend Web Developer to work on bringing PowerSpike’s databases and API’s to life.

Reporting directly to the VP of Development, you will be responsible for building bug-free data solutions which will deliver information to influencers, brands and advertisers to help them make critical marketing decisions for their spends.
