Job Description

We are looking for a full-time Backend Software Engineer to join our development team in Amsterdam (NL), or remote (CEST or close).

What you will be doing

Most of your day will be dedicated to software design, research, and coding. On typical projects, you will have a lot of freedom and you will be paired with another team member. Our team is made up of very experienced engineers, some with more than 10 years of experience. By working together you will learn from each other along the way. You will have an enormous impact on making our API service faster, more scalable and more flexible.

You will add new features to the service and find ways to make the existing ones perform orders of magnitude faster. Our customers have millions of users; they use Stream for mission-critical features such as showing content and exposing core functionality of their application. Building stable and reliable software is not just an option: as a member of the development team, you will design and write state-of-the-art software, follow best practices, measure everything and be responsible for deployment to production. You will also spend part of your time talking to our customers and help them to use Stream in their app.

We’re looking to scale our engineering team to build out our network product, on an infrastructure that's fit to scale with us.

We have a great starting point: hundreds of thousands of active users that love the Organise product, a straightforward deployment process, and a big focus on great user experience. We have plans to ensure scalability while we grow as a team - pairing as much as we can, an agile approach to product development and dedicated time to evaluate and improve our processes.

We build most of our software in Ruby (mostly Rails) and React, use Postgres hosted on AWS RDS for our databases, and use Heroku to host most of our web applications.

As Lead Engineer you will:

  • Play a leading role shaping the culture and developer experience of the engineering team - building a team that has a deep commitment to delivering products that empower our users and improve working life for everyone

  • Work closely with our CTO and CEO to set priorities and direction for our product and infrastructure. You'll play a scrum master role for development of our network product - inspiring and setting clear direction for team members

  • Using Organise, Amazon drivers landed national media coverage, including an exclusive BBC Newsnight investigation, exposing their working conditions & calling on Amazon CEO to lower their parcel targets back to a safe level. They’ve also met directly with MPs and got the Amazon CEO grilled in front of Parliament. 40% of drivers have had their targets lowered to a safer level now as a result - a huge win for their collective action.

  • Over 100,000 members pressured the government to abandon their plans to scrap the laws protecting paid holidays and rest breaks (working time directive) - including sending tens of thousands of messages sent directly to the Business Secretary in the 24 hours leading up to the U-turn. We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to help build Bubbly, the Release Readiness platform helping software teams continuously release software with confidence and visibility.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to help build Bubbly. Bubbly is a Release Readiness platform currently in development. We are on a mission to help lean software teams continuously release software with confidence and visibility.

About Bubbly:

The initial idea for Bubbly was planted a few years back. DevOps consultants working at Verifa continually received requests from customers for a tool to give them visibility across all their data and pipelines. So we decided to build one! In Summer 2020 with help from Business Finland funding, we built up a team and recently established a new company, Valocode Oy, to focus on Bubbly’s development.

At its core, Bubbly is a very lightweight data platform with data pipelines developed in HCL (HashiCorp Configuration Language). Bubbly aggregates, queries and extracts data from multiple tools in the release process into a single dashboard, providing software teams with visibility and confidence in their release quality. Thus far we have built the core engine and UI, and are working towards releasing Bubbly as a SaaS product later this year. The team are big fans of open source, and Bubbly was recently released in open source public beta. Right now, we are self-funded with plans to secure pre-seed investment this year.

We are a small dedicated team consisting of both technical knowhow and business acumen, and we are currently looking for two more team members - Frontend Developer and Senior Backend Developer. So there is plenty of room to take a leading role in developing a brand new product. And as we are an early stage startup, there is the possibility to have ownership ín the company.

About the role:

You will have a crucial role in developing the Bubbly backend which is entirely written in Golang. We are using NATS and a service-oriented architecture (not quite microservice) where the services communicate via NATS message queues. Postgres is the primary database right now, but we have plans for immutable, append-only databases in the future for more compliance-related activities. As the team was founded from a DevOps company, Verifa, we enjoy our DevOps practices and would hope you will enjoy it also.

Must Haves:

  • Solid knowledge and experience developing in GoLang
  • Solid experience with NATS or other streaming/event-driven systems
  • Practical experience with GraphQL
  • Solid experience with PostgreSQL
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Nice to haves:

Why We’re Hiring

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer with experience working in and leading agile development teams. This role will be responsible for building features for our marketplace partners. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in distributed systems and Golang. Experience in React or React Native is a bonus but not required.

About the Enterprise Pipeline Team

Enterprise Pipeline, a core C2FO team, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to the connectivity and ETL portions of C2FO’s products. What will be your main challenges?

You will work on highly scalable mobile games, played by millions of people every day.

The responsibilities are cross-functional, ranging from infrastructure, API design & coding all the way to client-side integration. To succeed in this role, you will need to have passion for everything you do. You love to write code that scales to millions of users, champion new tech initiatives & leverage existing solutions.

What is your team about?

The role is part of the tech team. That said, most of your time you will work closely with game teams, challenging their ideas and coming up with your own. The role is remote by nature but you are more than welcome to use any of our offices located across the world. You’ll need to be located in or be willing to relocate to the following countries to apply: Spain, France, Germany, UK or Canada.

What do we expect?

  • 5+ years of backend development experience

  • Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals

  • Extreme fluency in an object-oriented language

  • Mastery of SQL and noSQL

  • Background in high scale systems

  • Understanding of Unix-like environments

Job Description

Comnoco is a young SaaS company with an enterprise grade product. We’ve built (in Go) a way to program backends without writing code. Users can create APIs and functions as a service as well as visually build amazing PDFs and other communications.

We’re looking for an experienced Golang developer to join us on this journey and be a part of our core early team.

Our high-level tech stack is Go, speaking gRPC between microservices and gRPC-web to our frontend which is written in Typescript and Vue. PostgreSQL, Bolt & Minio cover storage and the Ory.sh stack covers everything identity & Auth.

For deployment we’re looking to implement Infrastructure as Code (probably Pulumi) on Kubernetes (on one of the usual cloud platforms; AWS, Google Cloud, Azure etc).

If you’re into the same/similar tech stack this could be for you. We aren’t mandating minimum experience, we know it’s about your ability and interest not necessarily the years served.

A significant portion of the development has been done, we need someone to join our existing friendly team and help us build on this foundation.

This is a fun project, and we believe you’d be hard pushed to find another one as interesting or with the same opportunity for professional development.

Our mission is to build new economies by enabling our partners to compensate their content creators for the digital goods and services they produce. Here on the Ecom engineering team, we accomplish this by building a growing set of financial capabilities on top of our regulatory licenses. Some of these capabilities include processing payments and payouts, verifying user identities, detecting fraud and enforcing sanctions. Additionally, these systems have an expanding set of tools around them to be used by our partners and customers.

Basically, we write code that lets users sell digital hats in video games and get paid real money.

This position is for a Software Engineer on the Ecom team. The primary responsibility is to design and build the APIs that facilitate our capabilities. This is a fast-paced team and we are responsible for the full life cycle of our code. We break large systems down into component parts to be concurrently worked on, which requires that we be in lock step with each other. This means we highly value dependability and communication. We are iterative in nature, both as it applies to the code as well as our own processes. We build cool stuff, we weigh risk/reward, and when we make mistakes, we respond quickly and together and without blame. This is a team in the truest sense.

You will:

  • Take features through their entire lifecycle - design, implementation, test, documentation, deployment, production monitoring, outage response, and usage analysis
  • Design the API spec and implement it, to enable core business capabilities around payments, payouts, identity verification, fraud detection, sanction enforcement, and tooling
  • Communicate not just with the team, but also directly with our partners and vendors
  • Participate in our culture of continuous improvement to make both the tech and the team even better
  • Learn about and contribute to financial technology

You need:

  • Experience with Golang

Job Description
