We scope out our project such that we're able to deliver meaningful work but small enough to iterate and take on board feedback quickly. We encourage our engineers to get involved in different teams and projects based on their interests, skills and opportunities to learn. We're also equally mindful about technical debt and make sure we dedicate time to addressing it.

**Product
**Our product teams each own a different part of the product, building features that improve Geckoboard for our customers. Some of our recent work has ranged from a new send-to-Slack feature, SSO and in the team you’ll be joining initially, we’ve been building a brand new internal framework for importing, storing, and analysing data from third-party APIs we integrate with. We know that investing in our Data Platform is the best way we can deliver flexible, high-quality integrations quickly and easily. The new framework takes care of managing and scheduling imports, responding to webhooks, receiving analytics queries, migrating data from one version to the next and allows us to build internal gRPC services using a common protobuf interface upon it.

**Platform
**We believe that we can only be successful as an Engineering team if we are constantly and systematically investing in our tooling, our common systems, and our developer experience, this is where our Platform team comes in. Our recent work has ranged from rapid response work to improving test and trace coverage, migrating existing services to Go modules and support for other teams. We're also working on enabling older RESTful services to be migrated onto gRPC with a GraphQL API gateway in front.

Work where you work best:

While most of our team are normally based in our leafy East London office, a lot of us work remotely at least a day or two during the week. This means we’ve always been intentional about making sure our ways-of-working are remote-friendly so we can support that flexibility for everyone. We also have fully remote team members, though the expectation is that you’re comfortable with a visit to the London office about once a quarter (except during pandemics).

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, our office remains closed and everyone on the team is working from home presently. We’re likely to continue working from home over the Winter. We keep a close eye on the government guidance, regularly update the team, and plan to open our office only when it’s safe to do so again.

Some of our team have shorter working weeks and we’re more than happy to try to accommodate this or another arrangement whenever possible. Just let us know what works best for you or that you’d like to chat about it in your application.

This is a 100% remote role. UK/EU based only.

We are looking for Senior Software Developers who want to help build the next generation payment API in the cloud.

We'd like to hear from enthusiastic polyglot developers who want to work with the latest technologies, solve interesting problems and be part of a really great team. There are a wide range of problems to tackle, from configuring nginx proxies to writing custom payment routing and handling logic, and we contribute open source back to the community. We believe that the language you write the code in is just how you convey your solution to the computer and the real value is being able to think through a problem.

You will be working on new development projects, focused on best practice across the board, including automation of absolutely everything (Terraform for infrastructure deployments to AWS, CI/CD with contract-based testing and auto-deployment of services within Docker containers, etc.), pair programming and TDD/BDD. Although many of us live around London, we are operating as a remote team, and typically working from home and pair programming.

It’s very much a “best tool for the job” mentality at Form3 and our tech-stack is always evolving but to give you a flavour of what we’re currently working with here are some of the tools we use;

• Some of the languages we currently use are: Golang, Java, Python and Ruby
• Some of the tools we use: Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, Vault, Consul, Linkerd
• Our platform runs in AWS where we use: SQS, SNS, EC2, ECS, RDS and others

We don’t mind whereabouts you are based as we offer the opportunity for our team to work remotely from anywhere in the UK or EU. In fact, most of our Developers work, utilising screen-share technology and pair-programming to share knowledge across the team. That being said, we also have London and Amsterdam offices, so should you occasionally wish to work from these, you'd be most welcome.

Your Experience

• Polyglot: Choosing the right tool to solve the problem is critical, and we expect you to have professional experience with at least 2 different programming languages and multiple platforms and tools.
• Distributed architecture: We expect you to have previous experience engineering complex distributed systems, and a view on topics such as service discovery, integration testing, inter-process communication, how to define your services and APIs, as well as experience with distributed data stores.
• Public cloud: You have worked with public cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud etc.)
• TDD/BDD: Code quality is key, and we expect you to have worked with Test-driven development (TDD) and Behaviour-driven development (BDD) and be familiar with the use of tools such as Cucumber.

Desirable Experience

• Most of our code is written in Java and Go, so experience with either would be helpful.
• All our services are built and managed as docker containers, so Kubernetes, and general docker experience is preferred.
• We like clean code, so experience with Event Sourcing/CQRS will be useful.
• We do contract-based testing, using tools such as Pact.
• We work as a devops team, so experience in automating operations (such as infrastructure as code, automated monitoring and alerting, build pipelines etc) would also be useful.

Whilst experience of the above technologies would be nice, it is by no means essential. We are looking to speak with well-rounded software professionals who have a breadth of experience across a variety of programming languages, are passionate about tech and enjoy working collaboratively within a team.

Team

The Data Retrieval team is developing source{d}'s data retrieval pipelines that synchronize and provide access to any number of code repositories. Written mostly in Go, it aims to be robust, friendly, flexible and capable of running on large-scale distributed clusters over petabytes of data.

We at source{d} seek to be at the heart of any project related to source code. Thus, this core tool is used both in-house for building source{d}'s unique global scale open dataset of +60M code repositories for cutting-edge Machine Learning research, as well as used by our customers to ingest git repositories to their source code processing clusters.

• Good knowledge of Linux, storage, networking and distributed computing is important.
• You will be expected to have strong backend coding skills in at least two languages, and very good algorithmic problem-solving skills. Skill at programming in Go is not required but will be highly appreciated. Distributed Systems - TLS / API Engineer

We’re looking for talented software engineers with experience in building resilient and distributed systems to join our team. This role is responsible for building, enhancing and maintaining the platform to deliver our core CDN configurations as well as our future Edge Cloud products. What You'll Do

• Contribute to the systems for managing DNS and TLS technology to minimize latency for delivering Fastly's services.
• Implement systems to allow Fastly's customers to control their own TLS and DNS configurations for how their requester traffic reaches Fastly.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of Fastly's latency-informed, topologically-aware DNS system.
• Support internal operational, analytical and customer-facing teams that depend on the DNS and TLS tooling.

About the role

As our Senior BlockOps engineer for Sygma, our cross-chain interoperability protocol, you will play a vital role in our dedicated BlockOps team, defining and implementing best-practice strategies and guides to manage and optimize our infrastructure.

The BlockOps team supports the critical systems, services, and tooling at the foundation of Sygma’s mission, to abstract away all the complexities of cross-chain interoperability to enable users to ‘deposit from anywhere’. We enable Sygma’s engineers to design, develop, and operate services quickly, safely, securely, and reliably. BlockOps teams build and maintain the platforms critical to the existence of Sygma.

Your expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the sophistication of blockchain applications and redefine the boundaries of what's possible within this emerging technological sphere. Responsibilities

What you will be doing

Ensure reliable operation of the company’s distributed Relayer nodes operations across various blockchain networks (EVM, Substrate, Cosmos SDK) while adhering to internal SLAs and committed KPIs Design and implement procedures related to Sygma’s Relayer node operations (deployment and upgrade, incident response, and key management) Build monitoring and observability for various Sygma services including a distributed set of relayers and various blockchain full nodes. Provide training and guidance for other members of the infrastructure team, ensuring round-the-clock node operation and incident response. Document and communicate technical details via open-source documentation Collaborate with various internal teams and the wider community to build, expand, and scale Sygma’s architecture, by tapping into new trends and opportunities highlighted by internal data, blockchain research, and the wider blockchain ecosystem Requirements Solid dev. experience with Golang Experience working with AWS services Demonstrable experience with modern Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, Helm, Ansible, etc), automating deployment, and best CI/CD practices and tools. You • have at least 3 years of professional experience with Golang as a software engineer, of which at least 1 year in Cosmos; • love solving engineering problems; • value code quality, documentation, and delivering; • are good a communicator and respectful with your team and the open-source community; • like spending a lot of time on edge cases that almost never happen; • are patient and think things through carefully; • are self-organized and willing to write and sort your own tickets • can communicate fluently in English (verbal and written); • live in a time zone that is +/- 2h from Berlin;
