We scope out our project such that we're able to deliver meaningful work but small enough to iterate and take on board feedback quickly. We're also equally mindful about technical debt and make sure we dedicate time to addressing it.

**Product
**Our product teams each own a different part of the product, building features that improve Geckoboard for our customers. Some of our recent work has ranged from a new send-to-Slack feature, SSO and in the team you’ll be joining initially, we’ve been building a brand new internal framework for importing, storing, and analysing data from third-party APIs we integrate with. We know that investing in our Data Platform is the best way we can deliver flexible, high-quality integrations quickly and easily. The new framework takes care of managing and scheduling imports, responding to webhooks, receiving analytics queries, migrating data from one version to the next and allows us to build internal gRPC services using a common protobuf interface upon it.

**Platform
**We believe that we can only be successful as an Engineering team if we are constantly and systematically investing in our tooling, our common systems, and our developer experience, this is where our Platform team comes in. Our recent work has ranged from rapid response work to improving test and trace coverage, migrating existing services to Go modules and support for other teams. We're also working on enabling older RESTful services to be migrated onto gRPC with a GraphQL API gateway in front.

Work where you work best:

While most of our team are normally based in our leafy East London office, a lot of us work remotely at least a day or two during the week. This means we’ve always been intentional about making sure our ways-of-working are remote-friendly so we can support that flexibility for everyone. We also have fully remote team members, though the expectation is that you’re comfortable with a visit to the London office about once a quarter (except during pandemics).

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, our office remains closed and everyone on the team is working from home presently. We’re likely to continue working from home over the Winter. We keep a close eye on the government guidance, regularly update the team, and plan to open our office only when it’s safe to do so again.

Some of our team have shorter working weeks and we’re more than happy to try to accommodate this or another arrangement whenever possible. Just let us know what works best for you or that you’d like to chat about it in your application.

We're Fuzzbuzz and we're building a fuzzing as a service platform that integrates into CI systems and the modern software testing workflow. Fuzzing is a type of automated testing that generates and runs thousands of inputs per second on your code to try and find bugs and vulnerabilities. We are seeking a hands-on Head of Engineering for our well funded e-commerce fulfillment startup

At Bezos, our vision is to Deliver Happiness: For our team, for the end consumers, for our e-commerce sellers as well as our logistics partners.

Exciting times in e-commerce: E-commerce sales in Europe is projected to be £406 billion by 2023, expected to grow 8% per year between 2018-2023. Today, these small and medium sellers are ignored by the large incumbent logistics service providers and we are on a mission to change that.

Building a next generation Fulfillment-as-a-Service platform: With this explosive growth in e-commerce, the demand for e-commerce fulfilment and delivery is booming. Bezos is a next generation Fulfillment-as-a-Service (FaaS) platform, that allows small and medium e-commerce sellers to outsource their storage, fulfilment, delivery, and returns and focus on what is more important: growing their businesses. Job Description

We are looking for an experienced backend software engineer to join our exceptional team of distributed systems engineers. We have embarked on a mission to create highly-scalable and performant micro-services that handle tera-bytes of data and analytics that feed into beautifully designed custom data visualizations. You will be responsible for architecting, implementing and testing new and existing systems that power our flagship product and help humanize the way content marketers interact with customers. Most importantly, your leadership as a senior and experienced member of the team will become an example for others to follow, and you will help shape and define our engineering practices and craftsmanship.

What you'll be doing

• Writing beautiful API documentation for all the services you and the team builds for consumption by other developers (we use Swagger).
• Design and architect scalable services that are both highly available and performant.
• Breaking down product requirements into manageable stories and delegating work to team members.
• Refactoring and evolving existing distributed systems to make legacy systems anew.
• Collaborating with other functions of the business and engineering department to ensure successful delivery of software.

Who you are:

• A bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
• 8+ years working in backend technologies in addition to Java such as Scala, Python, Golang or a combination of
• 8+ years working in databases such as MySQL, Postgres or other RDBMS systems
• 8+ years working with cloud-hosting and deep understanding of AWS, Google Cloud or Azure
• 3-5+ years working with Docker containers and deep understanding of the internals of how containers work
• 3-5+ years working with non-relational databases such as Cassandra or Dynamo
• 3-5+ years building and deploying containers into managed clusters with Kubernetes or equivalent
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Proven professional experience working with non-technical business functions
• You enjoy collaborating with product management teams to ensure the best quality product is shipped out the door
• You have a keen appreciation for usability and understand your users come first when designing systems
