Job Description

At BlueLabs we are building a next-generation sports betting platform focused on performance, reliability, modularity and automation. After a period of experimentation, we are now excited to see our technology powering the launch of BetFox, a new B2C operator in Ghana.

To ensure the continuous enhancement of our platform while scaling up operations and entering additional African countries, we are now looking to growing our team. As a result, two of our teams (i.e. Betting and Account) are now on the lookout for seasoned Software Engineers who want to join our distributed team and help us execute our vision.

The Team

The Account Team is responsible for the development and daily operations of the core services powering business-critical functions such as player account management and wallets. Other focus areas include, but are not limited to: responsible gaming, integration with third-party payment providers, integration with Mobile Network Operators, and player acquisition and retention programs with a focus on personalisation and automation.

The Betting Team is responsible for designing, developing, and operating all services relating to the lifecycle of bets in our sports betting platform. This stretches from bet placement to bet settlement, including advanced features such as an event- and player-based risk management, ability to build complex bets such as from outcomes with dependent probabilities, or continuous calculation of early settlement offers (cash out).

The services built by our teams are to be concurrently used by thousands of users and are expected to be able to handle hundreds of thousands of daily transactions in a timely manner.

Sub-second latency is welcomed but high throughput has higher priority in the Betting domain. The goal is building a sports betting platform where no bet is rejected due to lack of capacity in the system. Bet settlement is worth a special mention as the platform needs to be able to quickly evaluate hundreds of thousands of bets upon the resulting of an underlying sporting event.

Raw performance isn't everything. The team must also ensure that the platform can be easily adapted to be compliant with the different and ever-changing regulatory demands our industry is facing all over the world. The ultimate goal being to ensure a fair and safe sports betting experience to all our players.

We are building a microservice architecture based on event sourcing using Pulsar. Our services are written in Golang and use PostgreSQL as an operational database. We use SemaphoreCI to deploy our services to a GKE cluster, which is provisioned using Terraform.

A good candidate should have high standards for himself, a desire to build high-quality, well-tested, production-ready solutions and constantly improve his/her skills. We expect you to take ownership of some parts of the platform, be proactive over the entire development lifecycle and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. If this sounds scary, don’t worry - you won’t be alone in this. We value teamwork, trust, communication and a healthy working relationship, so you can always count on the team for support.

About You

  • You have good problem-solving skills, a tendency towards simple and effective solutions, and a “getting things done” mentality.
  • Analytical thinking, troubleshooting skills, attention to detail.
  • You are a reliable, trustworthy person that keeps their promises.
  • Interest in keeping yourself up to date and learning new technologies.
  • Product-oriented mindset and eagerness to take part in shaping the products we build.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fully distributed team.
  • Good communication skills in verbal and written English.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science or similar technical field
  • 1+ years of professional software development experience using Go
  • Experience building large-scale distributed systems, communicating asynchronously via message passing using RabbitMQ, Kafka or Pulsar
  • Deep understanding of DDD, CQRS, microservices architecture, and SQL/NoSQL data stores
  • Ability to write clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-tested code
  • Familiarity with test automation, cloud and containerization technologies, code instrumentation and CI/CD pipelines
  • Interest in taking full ownership of your services and managing them in a production environment including the troubleshooting of live incidents

Remote Work

We are hiring for talent, not for a specific location. You will find that members of our team are distributed all over Europe. Being a distributed team enables us to hire only the best, without being restricted to the talent pool available at a specific geographic location. However, to facilitate team communication and collaboration we currently require you to be located in Europe. You must also be able to travel to other European locations a few times a year for on-site meetings and workshops.

Compensation

The budgeted compensation range for this role is €58,000 to €76,000 annually, depending on your background and experience. As an independent contractor, you will be responsible for paying any taxes or applicable fees in your country of residence. In addition to that, we offer a number of perks to each of our team members as we truly believe in a healthy work-life balance and continuous learning.

By cutting through financial complexity, we'll empower companies to change the world. Join us. Unlock your potential.

Senior Software Engineer at Checkout.com:

Our solutions allow merchants to route dynamically a transaction to the best payment provider to optimise their conversion rate. Your main task will be to design and create or maintain micro-services within our infrastructure. Our product handles millions of transactions within a week. The API has its key part on it but the load is also on a multitude of other services.

You will work closely with our technical teams to learn about the possible technical bottle-necks. We have implemented different technologies such as Go (go-kit toolkit, gRPC…), Kubernetes, AWS, PostgreSQL and many others. Your role would be to lead us to new technologies that our product can benefit from.

Our product handles financial data making uptime one of our key KPIs. We expect that you will be able to work on high-availability and technically challenging programs.

You will join a talented team of 10 engineers, Data Scientists and DevOps, that are tech-passionate, working closely with most of them. Our main goal is to ensure that we can contribute to your personal growth as an engineer.

Payments are often compared to a black-box. Merchants around the world have issues understanding how their performance is and what optimization can be done. Our team is focused on building the best payment performance tool there is. It allows merchants to better understand their online processes as well as offline payments.

We offer 2 products to our merchants:The first, named Telescope, allows us to analyse, understand and make recommendations to a merchant. It does not require any technical integration from them and works mainly through webhooks, pulling data from APIs or parsing exported files.

About You

  • 3 years software development experience in Go
  • Know your way around web-related tech (HTTP, TLS, proxies, API conventions...)
  • Implemented APIs
  • Experience deploying applications as a part of a service-oriented architecture
  • Curious and unafraid of digging deeper to understand how systems of all kinds work
  • Keen to communicate with third-party gateways from a technical point of view as well as to maintain the best relationship as possible
  • Knowledge in the payment ecosystem
  • Worked on critical services
  • Some basic knowledge about ElasticSearch

What you will be doing

  • Payment gateway integrations: Interacting with external APIs through an in-house framework, handling webhooks notifications and parsing bank reconciliation summary files
  • Communication with third party payment gateways
  • Design and implement new workflows on our services

If you don't meet all the requirements but think you might still be right for the role, please apply anyway. We're always keen to speak to people who connect with our mission and values.

Rialtic Logo
Staff Golang Engineer
Rialtic
USA, Remote (EST, CST, MNT)
$200,000 to $250,000 a year
September 2024
50 Applicants This Week

Job Description

*Please note that we can only consider candidates in the US within EST, CST, MST time zones.

About Rialtic

Rialtic is an enterprise software platform empowering health insurers and healthcare providers to run their most critical business functions. Founded in 2020 and backed by leading investors including Oak HC/FT, F-Prime Capital, Health Velocity Capital and Noro-Moseley Partners, Rialtic's best-in-class payment accuracy product brings programs in-house and helps health insurance companies gain total control over processes that have been managed by disparate and misaligned vendors. Currently working with leading healthcare insurers and providers, we are tackling a $1 trillion problem to reduce costs, increase efficiency and improve quality of care. For more information, please visit www.rialtic.io.

The Role

We seek a motivated and curious Staff Engineer with extensive background experience in cloud-native distributed systems who hates manual processes and feels compelled to build tools to automate them away. As a key contributor to our core healthcare claims processing platform team and senior member of the technical staff, you will play a vital role in building solutions to improve workflows across multiple engineering teams, supporting client evaluations and implementations, live system support, site reliability, system testing and monitoring, and logging/alerting integrations. This position requires a customer-first, quality-oriented mindset. We are a data-driven organization, so instrumentation and measurement are how we determine the success or failure of our engineering efforts.

We tackle challenges that are common to healthcare companies and healthcare data, but we do it using a modern, cloud-native stack. Our core processing platform and related services are written in Go, while our clinical and financial analytics components that run inside the platform are written in Python. This is a back-end systems focused role: we won’t ask you to write Javascript (but being able to read it never hurts, and we have many APIs and interfaces between us, our clients, and our own systems). Our ability to parse, validate, process, write code against, and manage enormous volumes of data while performing complex analyses quickly and accurately is critical to our success.

If that sounds like a fun challenge, then you should apply for this position!

You will

During any given week in this role, you might:

  • Develop core platform features using Golang, Python, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and various cloud (AWS) services, with a particular focus on developer experience, tools, and testing;
  • Apply your experience with distributed systems to our architecture and services, drawing on your hard-won knowledge of the places where whole new classes of fun and exciting bugs lurk;
  • Collaborate with your engineering peers and build productive relationships with members of the Go-to-Market, Product Management, Clinical Content, and other teams that need our expertise to translate their requirements into coherent technical solutions;
  • Partner with our cloud/SRE team to understand the performance characteristics and storage needs for our Kubernetes clusters and the pods and containers that run there, which requires continual tuning as we dynamically scale throughout the day to meet client usage patterns and data flows while meeting sub-second SLA performance requirements;
  • Assist our infosec team in reviewing the findings of automated and manual security testing and audits, including both HITRUST and SOC 2 Type II, and work with the engineering team to implement and refactor code and services in a secure fashion;
  • Influence the whole Engineering organization to adopt best practices in software development and testing, helping us all develop high-quality, scalable, testable, and maintainable code;
  • Participate with internal and external stakeholders to understand the business logic and other requirements (such as refresh latency) for our Web-based payment integrity solution, client data warehouse exports, and one-time/ad-hoc analysis needs;
  • Write and help maintain specifications, documentation, diagrams, test plans, and other artifacts that represent the current and planned future state of our systems;
  • Serve as a peer reviewer for a colleague’s code, participate in an engineering architecture specification review, work with the product management team to refine a set of requirements or break a story down into concrete tasks for implementation; or
  • Mentor less-experienced developers as they grow in their own mastery of these topics and more. Our systems and services tech stack includes (but is not limited to) Golang, Python, SQL, shell scripts, AWS EC2, Athena, Aurora / PostgreSQL, Kafka / MSK, Kubernetes, SQLite, Airflow, Spark, and more!

We also expect you to challenge our choices and practices by bringing your opinion in the mix, because only by rethinking our best practices we can really evolve as persons and as a company.

Some of your responsibilities will be:

  • Work together with our PO to set the quarterly team goals and make sure the team delivers them
  • Collaborate with the architects and the other team leads to align dependencies between teams and make sure common architectural and best practices are followed
  • Mentor the team members
  • Providing a seamless experience for tenants and advertisers when dealing with all money flows in the platform
  • Working together with the Finances team to develop tools that make their work auditing, processing and validating payouts easier and more reliable
