Software Engineer BlueLabs Europe (Remote) €58,000 to €76,000 a year

Job Description
At BlueLabs we are building a next-generation sports betting platform focused on performance, reliability, modularity and automation. After a period of experimentation, we are now excited to see our technology powering the launch of BetFox, a new B2C operator in Ghana.
To ensure the continuous enhancement of our platform while scaling up operations and entering additional African countries, we are now looking to growing our team. As a result, two of our teams (i.e. Betting and Account) are now on the lookout for seasoned Software Engineers who want to join our distributed team and help us execute our vision.
The Team
The Account Team is responsible for the development and daily operations of the core services powering business-critical functions such as player account management and wallets. Other focus areas include, but are not limited to: responsible gaming, integration with third-party payment providers, integration with Mobile Network Operators, and player acquisition and retention programs with a focus on personalisation and automation.
The Betting Team is responsible for designing, developing, and operating all services relating to the lifecycle of bets in our sports betting platform. This stretches from bet placement to bet settlement, including advanced features such as an event- and player-based risk management, ability to build complex bets such as from outcomes with dependent probabilities, or continuous calculation of early settlement offers (cash out).
The services built by our teams are to be concurrently used by thousands of users and are expected to be able to handle hundreds of thousands of daily transactions in a timely manner.
Sub-second latency is welcomed but high throughput has higher priority in the Betting domain. The goal is building a sports betting platform where no bet is rejected due to lack of capacity in the system. Bet settlement is worth a special mention as the platform needs to be able to quickly evaluate hundreds of thousands of bets upon the resulting of an underlying sporting event.
Raw performance isn't everything. The team must also ensure that the platform can be easily adapted to be compliant with the different and ever-changing regulatory demands our industry is facing all over the world. The ultimate goal being to ensure a fair and safe sports betting experience to all our players.
We are building a microservice architecture based on event sourcing using Pulsar. Our services are written in Golang and use PostgreSQL as an operational database. We use SemaphoreCI to deploy our services to a GKE cluster, which is provisioned using Terraform.
A good candidate should have high standards for himself, a desire to build high-quality, well-tested, production-ready solutions and constantly improve his/her skills. We expect you to take ownership of some parts of the platform, be proactive over the entire development lifecycle and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. If this sounds scary, don’t worry - you won’t be alone in this. We value teamwork, trust, communication and a healthy working relationship, so you can always count on the team for support.
About You
You have good problem-solving skills, a tendency towards simple and effective solutions, and a “getting things done” mentality.
Analytical thinking, troubleshooting skills, attention to detail.
You are a reliable, trustworthy person that keeps their promises.
Interest in keeping yourself up to date and learning new technologies.
Product-oriented mindset and eagerness to take part in shaping the products we build.
Ability to work autonomously in a fully distributed team.
Good communication skills in verbal and written English.
Requirements
BS degree in Computer Science or similar technical field
1+ years of professional software development experience using Go
Experience building large-scale distributed systems, communicating asynchronously via message passing using RabbitMQ, Kafka or Pulsar
Deep understanding of DDD, CQRS, microservices architecture, and SQL/NoSQL data stores
Ability to write clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-tested code
Familiarity with test automation, cloud and containerization technologies, code instrumentation and CI/CD pipelines
Interest in taking full ownership of your services and managing them in a production environment including the troubleshooting of live incidents
Remote Work
We are hiring for talent, not for a specific location. You will find that members of our team are distributed all over Europe. Being a distributed team enables us to hire only the best, without being restricted to the talent pool available at a specific geographic location. However, to facilitate team communication and collaboration we currently require you to be located in Europe. You must also be able to travel to other European locations a few times a year for on-site meetings and workshops.
Compensation
The budgeted compensation range for this role is €58,000 to €76,000 annually, depending on your background and experience. As an independent contractor, you will be responsible for paying any taxes or applicable fees in your country of residence. In addition to that, we offer a number of perks to each of our team members as we truly believe in a healthy work-life balance and continuous learning.
Backend Engineer, Security Monzo Remote / United Kingdom £40,000 to £100,000 a year

Job Description
At Monzo we’re aiming to build the best current account in the world. We are always keen to hear from capable, creative engineers who want to help us accomplish that goal. We want our bank to be safe and secure for our customers, so security is very important to us
Security at Monzo
Monzo’s security team has a wide range of responsibilities, from infrastructure security to application security. As a bank, we are solving diverse, novel problems to ensure that our customers are safe and secure.
One of the guiding principles of security at Monzo is that security at the expense of user experience is a last resort. We aim to move mountains in the background such that we can build world-class features without compromising on security.
As a member of our security team you would be responsible for constantly improving the security of Monzo, and you would work closely with other teams to ensure that our systems are secure by design. Of course, security incidents can and do occur, and the security team is involved with many different types of incident response.
Our engineers have a variety of different backgrounds
We have several non-graduates; only some of us studied Computer Science; one of the team has a degree in Marketing; some of us have worked in huge companies; some have only ever worked in startups; others are former consultants. As long as you enjoy learning new things, we’d love to talk to you.
We encourage an open and transparent working environment
You can get involved in any aspect of the business you are interested in and, following Stripe’s example, all emails in the company are visible in an email archive. We regularly run hackathons in which people build things on our third party API and we contribute to open source software as much as possible. We’ve also made our product roadmap public and give sneak peeks of features in our community forum. Our blog is a good place to learn even more about what we do!You can get involved in any aspect of the business you are interested in and, following Stripe’s example, all emails in the company are visible in an email archive. Monzo works in project-based sprints in small, interdisciplinary teams
We have around 190 engineers out of roughly 1000 people in total - and we have big ambitions. As a security engineer here you'd be able to work directly with lots of teams across the company, and we run regular knowledge-sharing sessions so you’ll learn heaps about everything from how banks work to effective communication.
At Monzo you will get to work with a lot of exciting new technology.
We rely heavily on the following tools and technologies:
Go to write our application code (there’s an excellent interactive Go tutorial here)
Cassandra for most persistent data storage
Kafka for our asynchronous message queue
Linkerd/Finagle for RPC
Kubernetes and Docker to schedule and run our services (Oliver, our Head of Engineering, gave a great talk at KubeCon on how we use these technologies)
AWS for most of our infrastructure
React for internal web dashboards
We also have two physical datacenter sites with actual cables to connect to various third parties
You should apply if:
the work we’re doing sounds exciting!
you want to be involved in building a product that you (and everyone you know) use every day
you’re constantly looking for flaws in systems and can reason about how best to address them
you’re keen to learn more about new technologies and the arcane inner workings of the financial industry
you’re comfortable working in a team that deals with ambiguity
you’re interested in distributed systems and writing resilient software
you have some experience with strongly-typed languages (Go, Java, C, Scala etc.).
Logistics
We can help you relocate to London, we can sponsor visas, and we're open to distributed working (as long as you can spend around 20% of your time in London).
We have payroll set up in five countries: the UK, Ireland, France, Poland and Spain. Right now, we can only hire people who work from those countries and we’ll keep this updated with new ones as we expand and are able to hire from more places 🌎
We offer competitive salaries based on skills and experience, which could be anywhere between £40,000 - £100,000 per year.
We care deeply about inclusive working practices and diverse teams. If you’d prefer to work part-time or as a job-share, we’ll try our best to make this happen. Just let us know in your application so we can plan for it.
We're usually always hiring for Backend Engineers in Security, so there's no closing date for this job.

Within the engineering team, we are organized in multiple cross-functional teams. By applying for this role, you will have the chance to become part of the Platform team.
We, the Platform team, are responsible for the core application of HousingAnywhere and are the team where it all started for HousingAnywhere. Here you’ll find those we call the “dinosaurs” of HousingAnywhere. Djordy, our CEO, started our team back when he was Head of Product.
We have ownership of listing management (listing creation, calendar management and listing representation) and also of chat and bookings functionalities. Down the line, everything we do should add to conversions and should help HousingAnywhere grow to be the number 1 market place for students and young professionals in the world.
Our mission as a team is to provide high-quality matching between tenants and landlords and to drive trust between the users of the marketplace. We think about these challenges every day in order to build a world-class product. If this sounds interesting to you, don't hesitate to read on.
About your role and impact in the platform team
HousingAnywhere has entered a scale-up phase in which we have seen impressive growth in terms of bookings and liquidity in the marketplace. This growth has brought us many technical challenges. On one end of the stack we build features and improvements to optimize conversions, on the other end we are making our infrastructure more resilient for future growth.
Some of the challenges we are tackling:
On the frontend side:
Consolidate our React based frontend with tests and consistent design
Provide users with a more fulfilling mobile experience through PWA technologies and principles
Integrate real-time technology to deliver content to users quickly
Continuously improve SEO through performance and content delivery
On the backend side:
Pragmatically redesigning the core system to identify services and run them outside the main monolith
Moving the core platform to Kubernetes and continuous deployment
Rethinking the way we represent and store data to allow easier integrations through events and denormalization
Monitoring and improving the performance of our private API.
Your role in the team is to contribute to solving these challenges by implementing solutions and assisting our team so that our innovative technology can support future business needs.
As a Senior Software Engineer we expect you to mentor our less senior team members and to work closely with our team lead and PO to help them solve technical challenges they face.
We also expect you to challenge our choices and practices by bringing your opinion in the mix, because only by rethinking our best practices we can really evolve as people and as a company.
Our stack
In frontend we are React lovers. We use Redux, CSS-in-JS, TypeScript, NodeJS and all tools related to this stack. Our backend is powered by Golang backed with a Postgres database. We’re currently moving our backend to a service-oriented architecture (microservices). Our main infrastructure is in Google Cloud Platform. We've been using React, GraphQL and Golang in production environments since the early days. Since a few years we’ve started using Kubernetes and nowadays all our new services run in the cluster.
What we are looking for in a Senior Engineer:
A product-oriented person: you love developing products that help people
You take responsibility for the quality of your work, you like test automation and you are interested in TDD best practices
You're a real team player. You understand your colleagues may have different opinions and you consider them to make our product better.
Someone who is pragmatic
Ability to find a clean and simple solution that could be easily adapted and scaled as the business evolves
Leadership capabilities
Interest in new technologies
You understand that maintainable code is simple code that makes intentions explicit
Experience needed:
Excellent skills in one of Javascript, Golang, C++ or any other of the main languages
An educational degree in the field of Computer Science or similar is preferable, although passionate career changers are also welcome
Experience with online marketplaces, service providers and/or API development
Solid understanding of web user interface design and web development
Have 10 years of experience in web development. If you think you can do the job with fewer years experience, don’t hesitate to apply as well.
Basic understanding of how to prepare a good burger (our team lead even makes his own buns)
Perks & Benefits
What we offer:
Friday drinks
Flat organization structure
Being part of a company that is scaling up with millions of monthly visits, and thousands of paying customers
A career ladder: a structured way to take control of your career and your growth within HousingAnywhere
Competitive salary
Budget for laptop and for training
The possibility to have a real impact on the core platform of the product

Lead Software Engineer (Go) Quoter Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada C$80,000 to C$140,000 a year

Job Description
About Quoter
Our cloud-based sales quoting platform allows IT companies to fire off beautiful, accurate quotes in seconds. Our disruptive pricing model and automated approval workflows empower IT companies to turn every customer touchpoint into a sales opportunity. Our customers report significant improvement to their bottom line with more quotes being created with better margins in less time.
We’re looking for brilliant and highly motivated people to join our rapidly growing team. This is a ground-floor opportunity for the right individual to join our tightly-knit crew and have a direct impact on the future of our partners and organization.
We understand that our success as an organization is equal to the sum of its individual parts – the people behind it. We are committed to providing an environment that you will thrive in. One that is challenging; one that is supportive toward your personal and professional goals; one that is transparent and collaborative; and one that recognizes and rewards hard work. Our core values are the cornerstone of who we are:
Hunger – Think big
Agility – Start small
Transparency – Transparency promotes trust, accountability, and responsibility
Continuous Improvement – Encourage continuous, incremental improvement of our product, process, and people
Empathy – Approach every situation with kindness and respect
Humility – Crave feedback. Be open-minded. Celebrate failure
Collaboration – Work together as a team. Support each other
Positivity – Create an environment that is positive and fun. Stop negative behaviour
Equal Opportunity – All people are created equal in their potential to achieve greatness
We’re well-funded and have an amazing team experienced in growing and scaling modern SaaS companies.
We have a beautiful office in downtown Vancouver, but are remote flexible. Most of our team is located in Vancouver, which is ideal, but we are looking for the right person for the job regardless of location.
The Opportunity
Beyond the obligatory perks you'd expect to find at any burgeoning tech startup (see below), the following is what you can expect life at Quoter will be like:
As a key member of our foundational engineering team of eight, you will be architecting, estimating, developing, and testing new features and improvements using an agile development approach. You will be working directly with the founders of the company, who are experienced developers with a proven track record in SaaS.
You will be working on greenfield Go microservices that will build on, and over time, replace, our monolithic CakePHP app. You’ll be working with bleeding edge technology including Go, Docker, Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, Terraform, Github, and AWS.
Clean code, collaboration, iterative development, rapid releases, and continuous improvement form the culture of our engineering team. We prioritize team velocity over individual performance. We work closely together and love sharing knowledge to elevate the collective skill level of our team. We lead with trust, transparency, and autonomy and focus on results.
Our development process involves two-week sprints, with epics being split up as granular as possible to parallelize work. We build and ship one core feature at a time, as we believe juggling too many things creates bottlenecks and ultimately slows us down. No individual developer owns any one part of the app – anyone can pick up any task. Collaboration, pair-programming, and peer review allow us to ship faster while maintaining code quality and reliability. And we're constantly optimizing how we work in order to be as efficient as possible.
About You
You are a true self-starter. You thrive on being productive with little external motivation, and feel a sense of urgency to get things done.
You take pride in your work and strive for quality in everything you do

You love problem solving and have an innate sense of curiosity
