Job Description

We're Proof, a startup in the legal tech industry. We’ve built a best-in-class legal services platform that is used by thousands of law firms, and growing over 10% month-over-month. We’re looking for talented individuals to join our team as we continue to scale and grow as a company.

What you’ll do:

  • Play an integral role in the development of the Proof platform, working with a small but powerful team of engineers. You will not be a cog in a machine, and the work you do will directly impact the lives of tens of thousands of law firms, lawyers, paralegals, and individuals throughout the US, and eventually the world.
  • Conduct design and code reviews to ensure scalability, performance and alignment with standards and best practices
  • Help the team define and maintain development practices
  • Work in an agile programming environment
  • Interface directly with the CTO
  • Write code primarily in Go & JavaScript
  • Build out new features & service offerings
  • Refactor existing systems as we move towards a service-oriented architecture

What we’ll expect you to know on day one:

  • 5+ years experience writing production-grade code in a modern programming language
  • Extensive experience with at least one backend programming language. (e.g. Go, PHP, Ruby, Node.js, Java). Specific experience with Go is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and adapt to new languages and technologies
  • Experience with or desire to work with service-oriented architecture
  • Extensive experience with at least one modern frontend framework (e.g. React, Vue, Angular)
  • Are a self-starter, take initiative, self-manage and require little day-to-day direction to be successful
  • Proven understanding of REST APIs
  • Knowledge to evaluate trade-offs between correctness, robustness, performance, space and time
  • Experience in taking ownership of features, while working with a team on short and long-running projects
  • Experience writing software tests (e.g. integration tests, end-to-end tests, unit tests)
  • You're excited to learn new technologies, languages, tools and best practices

Job Description

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to join our TechOps squad at Monzo.

Our TechOps squad is primarily responsible for making sure everyone at Monzo has all of the tools they need to do a great job. That means managing all of our devices (predominantly running Mac and Chrome OS), managing our G-Suite domains, providing 1:1 support to Monzonauts across the business, and much much more.

A big contributor to the success TechOps have had to date is the way we’ve embedded engineers in the squad, meaning we’ve been able to automate away a lot of the manual work traditionally associated with a TechOps squad.

This has allowed us to move quickly, achieve an incredible ratio of TechOps people to total employees, and reap the benefits of being able to hire people all across the world without friction.

You’ll help us solve problems such as:

  • How do we continue to offer outstanding service to all of our Monzonauts without exponentially increasing the number of people working in TechOps? What can we build to automate the work of 20 people?
  • What parts of traditional IT can we rethink with code to supercharge TechOps at Monzo?
  • How do we build a seamless, delightful experience for Monzonauts with best-in-class homegrown code and third party services?

The role

You’ll be a backend engineer in the squad. Some of the projects you’ll be involved in might include:

  • Integrating MDM (Mobile Device Management) and making this a function that integrates with everything else at Monzo, from inventory to access levels on your AWS account.
  • Building a seamless way to replicate groups, roles and other logical frameworks across first and third party applications to make authorisation for a Monzonaut a seamless experience.
  • Building on a system to track any and every Monzo-owned asset, from network switches to access passes and everything in between.
  • So much more - you’ll have the opportunity to influence our roadmap and build on the foundations already in place to continue scaling TechOps with Monzo

You’ll work closely with TechOps generalists and engineers from around the business to tackle some of the challenges mentioned above, working at the intersection between Security, People and TechOps to make sure we’re moving forwards together.

Security, scalability and how we continue to support the services you’re building should always be front of mind.

You’ll also have the opportunity to coach and mentor others in the squad on engineering best practices. We want to empower everyone in the squad to automate away the low-value manual work, and you’ll be key to unlocking this potential alongside other engineers in the squad.

We’re currently looking for Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to join our Platform team.

We’re looking for SREs who are software engineers at heart - you’re as comfortable writing software to solve problems as you are operating AWS or Kubernetes. If you’re a software engineer who has some good cloud infrastructure experience already, or you’re eager to get really familiar with systems, tooling and libraries, this could be the role for you.

As a team, we’re responsible for designing, building, and operating the services we consume from AWS, along with the software we run on top like Kubernetes, Cassandra, Prometheus, and Kafka. We’re also responsible for operating our three physical data centres, our network, and being on-call for the things we own and run.

To achieve this, we’re organised into three squads within the Platform Group; Infrastructure Platform, Storage Platform, and Backend Platform. Each squad is responsible for solving a specific set of problems for our customers and our engineers. We’re looking for engineers who are interested in joining our Infrastructure Platform or Storage Platform squads right now, but there are opportunities to move between them as you gain experience with our platform.

About Your Role

We are looking to expand our founding engineering team. Our team is inclusive, transparent, and takes large ownership in driving features from 0 to 1. We are looking for someone who is equally interested in developing robust APIs to stand the test of time as they are in developing innovative solutions to solving tough data modeling or UX challenges.

Your Responsibilities

  • Architect & Build – Design, develop, and deploy scalable software solutions from scratch
  • Full-Stack Development – Own backend and frontend systems, ensuring seamless performance
  • Technical Leadership – Drive engineering decisions, set best practices, and mentor as the team grows
  • Rapid Iteration – Prototype, ship, and refine features based on user feedback
  • Scalability & Performance – Ensure system reliability and efficiency as the platform scales
  • Infrastructure & DevOps – Manage cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and security best practices
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with founders, product, and design to shape the roadmap

Your Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a backend and/or full-stack engineer
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
  • Expert-level knowledge of Golang programming language and ecosystem
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience working with Git and writing technical specs
  • Experience working with gRPC and Protocol Buffers
  • Bachelor’s and or Master’s degree in Computer Science or another STEM field (or equivalent work experience)
  • An entrepreneurial spirit - you have or have always wanted to start a company

Bonus Points

  • Worked at an early stage (Seed or Series A) company, and/or a company that services the insurance industry
  • Familiarity with TypeScript / React or similar frameworks
  • Experience managing ETL data pipelines
  • Experience with general ledgers and double entry accounting
  • Experience with Terraform or other IaC equivalent technologies

What You Bring To The Team:   * 3+ years experience in engineering leadership building SaaS products in a modern SaaS environment * Experience with macOS internals and development preferred * Skilled at building teams and performance management * Experience with different software development methodologies such as plan-build-ship, shape-up, scrum, and kanban * Excellent technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills * Ability to grasp new software architecture and technology quickly * Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships with product, development teams, leadership, senior management, and internal and external stakeholders to help minimize silos and drive teamwork across teams

What You’ll Do:  The Huntress team is looking for a senior engineer who has experience writing software that interfaces with the Windows Operating System at a low level. This engineer will be responsible for developing applications that communicate from our customers’ Windows systems to our web portal to provide our threat operations team with critical threat-hunting information.

Responsibilities:  * Build features for a Windows application that interfaces with various low-level windows APIs on Windows to collect data and send it to our SaaS application * Integrate our endpoint application with our backend SaaS web application’s REST APIs for managing state and providing information that is used for threat hunting, paying particular attention to low resource usage on Windows hosts * Collaborate with QA and DevOps to use our end-to-end testing framework to test our agent and its interactions with our web portal
